SC2 is alright but nowhere as good as SC, when it first came out, and even then it was gay with all the mcfarlene characters.

I disagree about SC2, and I would assume SC3 as well. SC2 is a pretty damn well balanced fighting game, and easily as good as SC was on the dreamcast. It also had the benefit of having an arcade release that was on equel footing with the console port, instead of having a console port that was leagues ahead of the arcade release.

SC3 is also very good. I think there are many valid complaints about SC3 though -- but they're not the ones you typically hear from people -- people mostly hate on it because it became an exclusive title. As many things that went wrong with SC3, there are things that are wonderfully write about it as well. Some of the character revisions are just amazing.. even if it did upset some balance issues. Cassandra for example is light years ahead of where she was in SC2 (which is by turn, light years ahead of Sophitia in Soul Calibur).

SC3 is one of the most enjoyable releases in the series, from a casual standpoint. What I hope for in SC4 is to see some of those ideas realised in a more tuned manner.. which would pretty much make it the ultimate Soul Calibur game.

I have to admit i never bothered with SC3 because SC2 put me off.

The only reason I will be getting this is because A. its a fighter and B. it looks so purdy.

Hopefully the gameplay will be better than SC2.

Haha YES!!

I duno to be honest, couldn't put my finger on it so to speak.

It just didn't seem as much fun as SC1, perhaps I just got bored of the idea of weapons.

Soul Edge was awesome, because it was something new, SC still had that freshness and killer graphics too boot (at least for its time)

But something was lost with SC2, at least in my opinion, not to mention it was seriously easy.

Easy? I can only think of one franchise with good AI. It's meant to be played compeditively with other human beings.. not a great excuse for poor single player but that's just sorta what we get with most fighters.

If you want a fighting game that can keep you occupied solo.. check out VF instead.

new video interview from both IGN and GT(pretty much the same though). He kind of talks about Hilde mostly, but nothing really that new that we couldn't have figured out from the trailer.

totally, i prefared 2 to 1, but i also prefare 2 to 3. i didnt like the additions. characters included... something wasnt right, and the much touted character creation was garbage.

If you've timed it right, you'll be treated to a short cinematic sequence that's unique to each fighter, wherein fighters will lay the smack down on their opponents and end the match, regardless of the recipient's health.

I don't think I really like what I'm reading right there.

Yea that sounds a little weird, but I have to see it in practice first. There are one hit kills in GGXX and they're basically useless if both players know what they're doing.

What the hell is up with that screenshot? That character didn't look so cartoony last we saw her, did she? Maybe the character editor lets us turn this into an anime now?

Hmn..........so it's looking like 3 fun months. May is GTA, June is Ninja Gaiden, July is SCIV, which could be the first 3D fighting game I've bought since............Soul Calibur, lol. Some impressive stuff.

didn't feel like making a new thread, but an rather unexpected move is that the original Soul Calibur is making its way to XBLA. Year of the fighters seems to be spot on. Sucks it doesn't have online play, but since I don't have a DC anymore, I'll be all over this.

Namco Bandai today announced that Soulcalibur would make a Cervantes-like return to life this summer as a downloadable title on the Xbox Live Arcade.

New features for the XBLA edition of Soulcalibur will include the expected high-definition graphics and assortment of character- and mode-specific leaderboards. Unfortunately, cross-continental swordfights appear to be limited to the upcoming online-enabled Soulcalibur IV (set for a July 29 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), as Namco Bandai promised only that players could "challenge a friend in local-play Versus mode." Other modes include fighting genre staples like Arcade, Training, and Survival.
