Maybe they are, but who gives a shit about single player? It's like whining about WoW having no single player :P

If you don't like multiplayer, why the f**k would you buy a game that's inherently built upon the multiplayer mode? It's the same way i don't udnerstand why you'd whine about a ame like BF3 having a short single player campaign...it's so incredibly obvious that the multiplayer IS the game. It was never meant to be a single player experience and neither are fighters. Why is that so goddamn hard to understand for some people? How fun is it to play against the AI in a fighter anyway? Either it's just a punching bag or you crank it up and you have to use only 100% safe attacks and punish.

You can do all sorts of cool things when you don't need to keep it fair. Like that tower and story mode in MK. SP modes can be fun in fighting games.

Also when the earlier games have had pretty much SP content you kinda expect the newest game to have those too. You are getting less for the same price.

Depends on how yousee it. You get a lot more hcanges to the general gameplay than in any previous title. I'd rather they focus on make the core experience updated and fun, as i'll be spending hundreds of hours on that, rather than the single plyer BS that i'll be done with in two hours :P

I'm just sayin.. it has less SP variety than SC4. On the other hand, the quick match mode AI is much better than what was in SC4.

The game is definitely fun though. I'm loving Pyrrha Omega. A lot of people seem to prefer regular ole Pyrrha, but Omega has a touch of Cassie and I love it

As a Sophitia 2.0 (3.0?), I think Pyrrha is awesome. I'm still hoping that Cassie returns though.

I was a HUGE SCIV fan. I'm really not feeling this game too much so far.

Admittedly I probably had the most fun in IV making my own characters, and I'm super disappointed to see so much content recycled from the last game. I'm holding out hopes that better stuff unlocks (somehow?) but so far I'm pretty let down.

Dress up engine has improved too ;P

I also like SC4 a lot. I love all the new gameplay systems in this though, and I think cutting out the useless stuff like critical finish was a nice touch too. If this game had Cassandra, I'd probably say it's my favorite since SC1.

It still might be.

Well I'm still loving this game. Actually, I guess it would be more accurate to say that I'm finally loving it. Natsu's bombs are a bitch though. Thank god I can tech over them.. now I just need to remember to do it.

I'm damn rusty.

Oh, and anyone who has this and is on the fence on the guide: get it, it's awesome.

Uh, just got it today. Played for like an hour. Reminded me how pissed off i get at the boring, and kinda lacking, defensive game. Nightmare still feels like shit copared to the other characters. Maybe i'm just doing it wrong :P

Kinda fun that they made a Devil Jin play style too, even if it sucks balls :)

The defensive game was maybe pushed back from the limelight in SCV even further (it's clearly an offensive game), but I don't think it's boring. It actually keeps me on my toes a lot more. It's harder to defend now, and you have to be extremely attentive of the opportunities you get to throw something out.

Devil Jin.. sucks balls? He's probably one of my hardest match ups with Pyrrha right now. It may be a matter of not being familiar enough with his moves, but I've seen some mean Jins already.

He just seems to have such low range, low damage and allround just a lot of highs. Fairly fast though, so if you are close enough to punish you can get some damage in there, not to mention tricking people with the 7+b, a~b~k.

EWGF sucks though, talk about borking the #1 signature move, hehe :)

I don't know what that (EWGF) is :P Well range isn't a problem for Jin against my Pyrrha, since I usually try to keep things relatively close too. So far as damage goes, perhaps blow for blow, but he's got some ridiculous combos.

I need a good secondary character to work on. Pyrrha/Omega totally doesn't count. Natsu is an easy choice, or maybe Xiba. They're both sorta obnoxious.. heh.

EWGF, or Electric Wind God Fist, is the move all Mishimas share in Tekken. Except for regular Jin who has the shitty Electric Wind Hook Fist instead. In Tekken it's a i12 launcher that is like +12 on block (insane), but it's high and punishable with launch on whiff. You have to just frame it though. DJ has it in SCV but it's not so good anymore. It's 6, 5, 2, 3, B and you justframe the B. You'll know it's correctly timed if you see electric sparks when you use it.

I just got pummeled in rank by some people I really feel I should have been able to beat. I need some more practice. Tira is interesting. I blame those losses on a lack of experience. Natsu on the other hand? She can be downright frustrating. Her A's are so fucking fast, I'm not sure what and when to punish her and I can barely get my pokes in at times. Serious pain in the butt.

Yeah, some characters seem to get a free lunch every now and then. Natsu certainly being one of them, Yoshi as well. Themost frustrating thing for me so far is the damage ratio. I mean Natsu launches you in the air, jumps after and slams you in to the ground. One third of your bar gone for one tiny mistake. It's blockable on reaction (inless it's the unblockable), but with some lag or you just not reacting instantly, you'll go in the air. It's really annoying, especially as compared to doing a full juggle does maybe a few more points worth of damage :P

The sensitivity of 8 way run really does punish the tiniest (itsy bitsy) input errors big time. You hold any direction for a fraction of a second and instead of a quarter circle you're doing an 8 way run move.

I blame this shitty hori. I'm thinking about modding it, but unfortunately you can't stick a Sanwa stick in here without a good deal of surgery. This actually looks like a pretty easy and pretty good mod tho:

From what i know the regular jlf-tp8-yt stick housing doesn't fit inside the small FS-type boxes. You need to dremel either the bottom plate or the stick down, not to mention the top plate to get regular OBSF-30 buttons to fit. If you have all the tools and the time, just go for it...otherwise you might as well just buy a madcats stick :P

I'm having a bit of trouble getting used to the input as well. The game remembers your directional inputs for such a long time...i try to dash in and then do something like 3+a but it registers it wrong because of the dash, even though i go neutral before inputting. Really annoying :P

Yep. I'm used to it, since my mains have always used multiple QC movements for their angel/nemesis step.. it just frustrates me when it drops an input that I intended.

I don't think it's wrong, it's just that you have to be pretty perfect. A game like SF never has to worry about you attempting to move down and to the right.

So tired of the online fucktards. 90% of games are Natsu palyers just spamming, and it's HARD to punish...everything is safe :P

I don't know.. I've gotten pretty decent against the scrubbier Natsu players. If they're literally spamming, that is. Some people just call a never ending barrage, or intelligent use of a few key moves spam.

She IS hard to punish though, there's no doubt in that. I think she must be one of the safest characters in the game. I do most of my damage to Natsu with pokes.

Are you playing ranked matches? Try rolling into some player rooms or GC. Natsu is super popular no matter how you slice that up though. I actually don't mind much because one of my buds is trying to main her (he's not pro or anything, but he's already better than 90% of the scrubby natsu's i meet online) so I have plenty of match up xp.

It's just that i'm playing Nightmare and well, unless I keep preassure up 100% of the time, i'm pretty much fucked. I mean, either her strings are totally safe, or push me/her away so far that i can't punish or she jumps up in the air or something. Unless i keep the Natsu player guessing i just get steamrolled. I'm not great or anything, it just seems like a fairly brainless character.

Yeah, I know Nightmare pretty well, mostly from match up XP against a different buddy. He and Siggy can get smashed up pretty badly, but they can also deal gobs of damage. From what I've seen in this game I think Siegfried might be better, but Nightmare has some really cool/brutal stuff.. and who knows, I could be completely wrong about that too. I encounter a lot of Siegfried online.

Natsu is a hard match up for anyone who like.. isn't Natsu I have to imagine. You just have to be super patient and super good on defense against some Natsu players.
