I wont give it a final score because I dont believe in such way, and I am sorry if this will be long :(
PS. I dont want Skyrim fans to insult or anything like that to prove me otherwise. This is MY impressions of the game I had which will obviously not be the same as a Elder Scrolls fan, so give me a break ;)
Pros:
- The lore. I really loved the Skyrim lore, the background of Skyrim, its races (Nords) it was very fascinating and well done.
- The story. One thing I really loved about Skyrim was the entire story about your character being a dragonborn, be able to speak their language, use it as a weapon, just impressive story IMO.
- The atmosphere was amazing, some sceneries was fantastic to watch especially your time to walk up the mountain and meet the Greybeards.
- The music was IMO the core of the game as well as the art. Jeremy Soule really outdid himself in his work and listening to the main theme and combat themes and the exploring music kept giving me goosebumps. Combining it with the norse/viking artstyle was even better, had that LOTR-Rohan vibe which is great.
- Dual wielding weapons.
Cons:
- Combat is pure garbage IMO. It is a chore, and if combat in a fantasy game were its real time is a chore the game is useless to me as it comes. Copy and paste it from Oblivion and not do anything to it other than dual wielding is just a lazy effort. Tbh, the only thing stopping me to play it, or where the fun actually is held back is the combat to me. Later on in the game around lvl 20, I didnt want to play the game tbh, felt like I was forcing myself to finish it just for the story. Thats why I only did the main quest.
- Fighting dragons for the first 4-5 times was great, but then it got boring, especially when you had to force the kites to lands so you could do anything at all!
They even ignored you sometimes and left! wtf?
- No cutscenes, really annoying. I appreciate good storytelling through dialogues, but the way the game is foretold with no epic cutscene scenery or something in similair fashion it just made it extremely boring to keep up. NPCs just face you and talk to you and you just choose the text as a answer and thats that. Even if the game had some sort of a cinematic CGI I would be happy but not even that. It was just boring to get engaged how the story was foretold especially how the teaser trailer was like with the animated stone which I thought was cool.
- Very detailed stuff isnt usually always good. You find alot of coins on a table, you want to grab them but the coins are on a plate. You keep taking the coins but all of a sudden by accident you pick the stupid plate as well, now you have to go to menu and find it and dispatch it.
What I am trying to say is, they put way to much nonsense effort into mugs, woodenplates, forks, vas...etc. to be interactive as picking them up. Who the hell cares for this nonsense, really? They should just have made a simple button press icon on the important stuff like coins, weapons, armor, potions, that way you dont have to deal with idiotic design like picking things by mistake or drag them to the side just so you can pick a few coins or a lockpick. If only they put as much effort into the combat and not this.
- The menu is okay but flawed. I like the sleek design of the menu, but you cant press a button to have a "compare" window to the current equip to the whatever is highlighted. I think thats very important to a RPG. I dont want to constantly keep go back and forth and memorize the stats. And some items you pick up is in such a random category, just bad filtering I guess.
- Leveling up is not my thing, infact I really dislike it. I think the traditional way of leveling up would is the way to go IMO. You keep killing, you gain EXP you see on the lower screen, you level up. Then you get a perk point, use it to any of the skilltree you want, you can also train but you have to level up to be able to use that perk. IMO that is a much better design and a more traditional way to do it.
I could be using one handed sword and do so much wacking with it (I wont call it slashing because thats not how it looks and feels in this game lol) that I didnt gain a level...it was just very annoying way to level up IMO.
- Alot of hiccups, glicthes, and bugs. Quick menu wouldnt come up, game freezes on me, my shouts wouldnt work (pissed me the hell off!), couldnt draw my weapons, dragonbone was flinching all over the ground like dancing...etc. alot of these type of issues.
- The way you fight the last boss is a cruel joke IMO, absolutely boring. When you have dragons in a fantasy game you pretty much expect some crazy battle, but nope. The way you fight the boss is exactly the way you fight any other freaking dragon! You have to force the bastard to land by archery and when it lands, start wacking them with melee and kill it, thats it. I was really dissapointed, but then again I didnt expect much as a "fight" on the boss because it has no freaking action and with its horrible combat to make it more epic. Nice scenery though.
Anyways, those are my main thoughts, and tbh...is this my favorite RPG? Absolutely not. I had to force myself to finish it lately which I rarely do in a game.
Its extremely average at best IMO with tons of flaws that held me back from enjoying it and annoying parts that was a chore and not fun. Now I know this is very like Oblivion, but the days I played Oblivion I wasent much of an RPG player, but as years passed I played various RPGs and started liking them more so I wanted to give this a go, well this happened.
This is my very last Bethesda game I will play tbh, they do great job on the world and lore but the actual gameplay/combat (which IMO is the core fun in such games) are not fun whatsoever. And those who went with archery...best way to play it indeed. But I definitely cant do that considering in any fantasy game or any given time were melee is involved with weapons, I want a sword! Any other weapon, it felt I was out of my element and kept getting boring to me.
From now on I will stick with RPGs that have action-based combat, and that is done properly in combat and nothing more.
Only ones I can think of is Dragons Dogma (which looks decent for now) and my anticipated one which is Kingdoms of Amalur.
Basically stick with action RPGs that has the mindset of an action game, with RPG elements.
Now I will finally play some games I have been urging to play, Bayonetta and Batman Arkham City!

The other good epic track is Sahloknir, that usually plays during most dragon combat.
The music is fantastic, Jeremy Soule really outdid himself this time. I have heard his work from other Elder Scrolls games, Guild Wars games, Supreme Commander...but with Skyrim he really went grand with. Some tracks are in the level of Lord of the Rings, like The Bridge of Khazak-Dum.
There is female vocals in some tracks which always reminds me of the elvish pieces of LOTR as well.
Btw. can anyone tell me how many dragonbone/scales I need to make a full set of light dragonarmor?
If you mean dragon plate its 13 scales and 6 bones =)
