Thing is, I have the trial version, but there are a number of question marks that haunt me. First of all, 60 levels, isn't that a bit short considering how short the levels themselves seem to be?
Also, the gameplay seem to encourage going fast, but there's no discernable way of hitting the brakes, so to speak, so most of the time you're best off if you don't attempt to speed up at all. Do the level design change in a way that you can go fast and not fall off later on?
And third, is there a hotseat option of playing the game with a "local" friend or is Live the only way to enjoy multiplayer marble blasting?

60 levels sounds short, but after a few days of playing, I have completed maybe 2/3's of them (few well over par time), and the levels are rapidly getting very hard. Unless you are a controller dynamo I don't see you blowing through it too fast. Plus there's always the incentive of going back and trying for better times.
There are some levels where you can go very fast (some "skiing" levels), but most will require that you slow down to do some technical jumps/stops. It takes a little while with the game before you can get good at predicting the marble's behaviour. Take the first level for example: initially I got a time in the 30 second range; now I'm closer to 10.
Lastly, it seems Live is the only multiplayer optiion. Split-screen would have been nice. =( But there's always next time.
I'd say it's well worth the ~$8 or so the game costs. And I haven't even tried Live yet.
I'm still undecided though. I have both Super Monkey Ball games for Gamecube and those are pretty darned good. MBU seemed really fast and actiony when I saw it in pictures but played more like SMB than I expected, and that's pretty steep competition to go up against. I'll spend some more time with the trial, take your stuff into consideration and we'll see.
