lol, I know the guy is using the high grade, but man it sounds like something completely different to me. Still awesome they were able to capture the arcade version almost perfectly for the PS3.

Well I plan on getting both, so I can't help you with that call :) There are always rentals. I would get an arcade stick for either console to play this game--but I definitly would not want to play it with the 360's d-pad. God I wish they would revise that damn thing.

Hmm. I don't know where to rent from. Gamefly would take too long, and run out of supply, Gameznflix wouldn't get supply AND take too long, and then Blockbuster would cost too much and only let me have it for a week. Ugh.

I'm on Gameznflix but yea their supply issues are a bitch. Gamefly is utimately much better, it's just a bummer that it's reflected by the price difference. By the time you got it from Gameznflix, the 360 version would be out :)

Played VF5 for a bit last night but have to say as a console game it is lacking a lot of features compared to its predecessor, VF4 Evo.

- In training mode, you can no longer record actions for the CPU to perform as a reaction which was a superb feature before
- You can no longer record replays in 1P mode
- There is no tutorial in the game anymore
- There is no ideal combo list.
- AI is lacking so far, fighting 10 dan CPU AI and they are a snorefest.

Initial load time takes at least 40 seconds even after HDD install....as for arcade quality port, the textuers are noticably not as detailed on the characters themselves and on certain parts of the background...but I am speaking from an expert VF perspective as I have logged countless hours since the initial location test (2005.11) and lpay on a competitive level.

Still, maybe take it with a grain of salt, I'll try and find some more impressions. But the part about the training mode sounds hard to believe. I don't see them making a change like that, and if they truly did, why in the hell? Then the part about recording replays, I thought the new VF TV feature covered all that. Some of his gripes seem to contradict what I've read in previews. But like I said, take with a grain of salt. :)

Boo. Well hopefully the AI issue isn't quite as large as he's making it sound. Reaching 10th Dan in the Evolution wasn't that difficult having had experience in Virtua Fighter 4 previously--this guy admits he's pretty compeditive, so it should expected that early AI's wouldn't be much of a match for him. 10th dan though? Eek. Hope that's not as serious as he's making it sound. Sad about the tutorial though. The impact on training is certainly the biggest deal out of everything he's mentioned.

I would be able to really compare it to the arcade version, seeing as there are no cabinets in my area, but I expect it to hold up pretty well to past VF experiences--mostly everyone else seems satisfied.

Concerning though. Hopefully the training mode features make it back into the 360 version.

Yeah, true. It's sounds somewhat concerning. I find it weird that in the 3 EGM reviews, none of them mentioned any of this. If they're so called hardcore VF fans, I would of thought they would of at least mentioned some of this. Iono, just sounds weird. I think they are worth mentioning in the least case.

But yea, The training mode blow is really what concerns me the most. Me and Training mode ran hand in hand. The AI issue doesn't really sound that concerning to me. I'm taking into consideration that he suppose to be competitive, so of course it may seem somewhat easier to him, that is, I'm hoping that was it is :)
