In addition, the big "2K" titles, its sports franchises are dealing with the whole liscense thing and it would have made more sense to take the name Irrational for eh publisher than corporate branding everything 2k
Once I installed vista on my machine, i really couldnt go back, its just soo much better.

But if DX10 is really offering noticeable improvements in games coming out right now than I shall get on board with Vista as soon as I have DX10 hardware. A lot of gamers have complained about many a Vista issue, so I've been hesitant, but it looks like that's going to change soon.
I'm still going to wait a little while longer though, was hoping on more news on the Geforce 9 series by now. Nvidia seems to be slowing down. I want to be confident in my ability to run Crysis and UE3 games @ 1920x1200.. I'm not sure the 8 series is really going to be up to task.
Price is actually another issue. Even OEM versions of Vista are still pretty damn expensive. I'm planning on doing my upgrade cycle either in December or January.. and I'm also hoping to find some good deals on Vista by then.
That was a bit of a confusing statement though.. I guess I should have said, "Maybe I'll buy Vista afterall."--My bad. It's nice to see DX10 finally providing PC gamers with a reason to do so.. even if the improvements aren't very drastic over the DX9 versions of the same software.

SDF Review: Bioshock (360)
Bioshock
After many months of anticipation I finally got my copy of Bioshock and played through it over the past few days. There are many things to like about Bioshock such as the graphics (not animation), parts of the story and the water effects. That’s about where the good stuff ends.
First let me say how excited I was for the game after playing the demo on the 360. While the animation seemed stiff and you could tell the 360 was being pushed too hard it still looked like it had a lot of potential. So imagine my disappointment when I got the final version only to find none of the animation hitches, shooting glitches and AI was cleaned up. I also wonder how much better the graphics would’ve been had they not been compressed to fit on a DVD. Now I do not fault the developers for this, they only had so much system power to work with so maybe this will all be addressed with the PS3 version when it comes out.
To conclude, let this game cook in the oven just a little bit longer and wait for the superior PS3 version. Cleaned up textures, animations, AI, extra weapons, Home space, standard HDD and Blu-ray will make this flawed game into a perfect gem.
SDF Score: 5/10
yeah nice try Sony Fanboys... your jealousy isn't showing... nah.

I really didn't read that many reviews though.

They got beat to the punch in the review, so they give it a low score. They did the same crap with HL2 -- with 3 2004 FPS having the same or higher scores -- and then turned around and gave it FPS of the year honors, even though in "their opinion" 3 other FPS were as good or even better.
Sorry, I call it as it is. These guys in are a business. Controversy = $$$ Cash.
Media companies are in a dog-eat-dog world and you don't get advert cash from following the flock.
This isn't to say that the reviewer didn't have issues with the game, but that is the issue with it being a "Gamespot" review and not a "Jeff" review. That is a big issue with many reviews (even worse when they stick someone on a game who doesn't even like the genre... e.g. an arcade fan on a sim racer) -- so the very nature of the horrible reviewing trends to begin with creates these nasty little loopholes that feed the system.
I didn't even mention the advert / preview revenue tie ins, and the tension that causes competing companies. IGN had a lot of Bioshock ads up...
Anyhow, this is why you read reviews -- not the scores -- and look at the body of opinion if you are on the fence. OR seek the opinions of reviewers with similar tastes, biases, and as well as friends with the same.
Interestingly I work with a guy who loves the crappiest games and hate, absolutely hates, almost all your true AAA games (not hyped). The guy loves NASCAR and thinks Stranglehold is the best game he has played in a year and thinks every big release in the last year has been horrible (everything from Gears of War to "Frenza" which "drives like crap").
So yeah, this is why you need reliable sources.
And we can always trust Gamespot, especially with a late review, to pick someone who can be controversial.
The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."
Stranglehold = one big pile of doodoo....
"You're being arrested for drunk driving."
"Drunk definitely, I don't know if you could call it driving."

Btw, I just played the Bioshock PC demo, and it was exactly the same as the Xbox 360 demo.. Still no playershadow etc, so I guess that's by design.. The demo ran fine on my PC (E6600, 2GB, 7900GS OC) with high settings, but I had to lower the resolution to 1152x864 because on my native 1680x1050 I experienced heavy mouse-lag (which indicates to low fps).. Sucks my 7900GS fails at playing this game in my native widescreen resolution with good fps.. I guess it's time for an videocard upgrade again (I knew it was coming)..

Yeah demo is out and it plays quite nicely even at older PC's.

Give a guy a gun, he thinks he´s Superman. Give him two and he thinks he´s God!
I wonder if he'll review the PC version as well, or if they'll get Jason Ocampo to do it. I'm interested to see if they give it the same score, like everyone else has.
