I won't be picking this up til next week, I think..

Keep in mind that there is a [ spoiler ] tag, people!

Serious spoilers will get you executed.
We also had to ask him the ultimate motivation-irking BioShock question, "What would possess a man to take a syringe, with no explanation of what's inside it, and jam it into his forearm?"

His response: "We get that one a lot. We probably should have had Atlas say something to make it more fluid. But it'll all make sense by the end of the game." Of course, BioShock is out now if you're looking to learn the secrets of Rapture.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was sorta weird. For a game that pays so much attention to detail, you would think they wouldn't overlook such an obvious mistake in the way the story unfolds. In the demo, I found it quite strange that upon stumbling into this strange environment someone would willingly inject a strange substance into their arm without knowing what it is or what it does to you.

..and another technical issue.

That's a PC screenshot, but the problem exists on the 360 as well :/

Wait, what was the OTHER technical issue?

Anyways, if I hadn't read your post I probably would never have noticed. Shame though, I hope it gets fixed.

I didnt even know that he had a tatoo or sleeves ! Im still gonna play the game but now that this has been brought to my attention its gonna bug me majorly. There is an absolutely huge thread over at the 2K forums. A representative came in and said she was going to look into it, but that was it.

Gerstmann mentions some Half-Life 2 style jitters/pauses later in the campaign.

Likewise, would not have noticed, but it still bothers me a little. They did say, "You will see more in widescreen" afterall, and you should.

Well, so far it's been good with me. The widescreen does not bother me, it's only when I start thinking about it that it starts to bother me, so I just don't and it really isn't a big deal.

Anyways, some impressions so far.

I now have tried two other plasmids, telekinesis and incinerate. Both amazing. No actually, plasmids in general are amazing! I just can't imagine this game without plasmids, it would not receive anywhere near as much praise as it has without them, that's for sure.

It's just fun to light a dude on fire, see him run through two rooms just to find some water, and before he gets up (if still alive), finish him off with a slap in the face courtesy of a pipe wrench.

I also had my first two encounters with big daddies......wow. I made a huge mistake the first time. Those things are really something you should really really plan before fighting. Basically, I ended up like that guy in the demo, he just kicked my ass.

The AI is also something worth noting. They have made a really good effort on them. I haven't had that "wow that fool is smart" moment since I played F.E.A.R, so it's nice to see other games try. As an example, enemies will follow you through rooms, if they have to go through doors, stairs, and friendly AI, they will do it and find their way to wherever you are, and they will also flank.

Hacking into the little "flying turrets"--whatever they are called, is awesome too. They just follow you everywhere you go and they can kick ass. They are like your mascot.

Using different type of ammo for certain guns is another plus, it just adds depth to the gameplay.

Graphics are amazing, and I'm just glad performance is equally good. Having just rented "The Darkness" and comparing to this is like day and night. Also, something many of you might not know is that there's an option (in the options menu, yes), to give framerate priority....I don't know, I've never seen this in a console game, but hey, it's there if you really don't want to experience any ditches in framerate.

I haven't seen any frame drops, it's rock solid 30fps. The option does warn graphics will take a hit for performance. Anyways, when activated, it seems to me the game goes 60fps, or VERY close to that. I couldn't see any substantial graphics downgrade, but I didn't spend much time on that. 30fps is more than fine, I wish The Darkness had the option though.......that game makes me want to vomit.....

Bioshock does have what it is the best looking water according to me. They just did it right. Everytime I see a flooded area my jaw drops, and I can't help it but simply look at it. Setting overall is really nice packed with A LOT of interactive objects.

The story is also starting to develop and I have made a couple of moral choices already. I don't know if they'll affect me later on, but hey, I did what I had to do. Regardless, very interesting so far and well told.

If you liked the demo, you have to get the game. If you didn't like the demo you have to quit gaming ok? :P

Hmn.........I bet Homer Simpson would do it........

Nah, but didn't they said it will be explained later on? Besides, that's a small mistake, they could have had the guy tell you, inject that to your body BELIEVE ME! Would you be happier?

Yes! I would have been happier.. and it's a very nit-picky comment, but I stand by that. In a game so dedicated to the small details--and specifically story telling-- it seems like such an obvious oversight. And something that easily could have been avoided with a brief comment from Atlas. It just amazes me that they didn't catch that. If I were writing a critical review, I'd probably mention it, but I wouldn't punish the game's score for it.

In context of the story, this dude was just scared sh!tless by some hook wielding maniac, a flaming couch kicked at him, and then had a wrench fight with an ugly dude. He's pretty battered, and scared, not to mention the fatigue from a plane crash. I certainly wouldn't be thinking straight at all after that. And then he hears what sounds to be the prospect of a power up, something to aid him in his survival in this bizarre place. What the hell, he should have already been dead. Use it.

Thats how I take it anyway.

So if u have a minor accident (say like: fall of your bike) and u get hurt and scared u start putting red glowing needles in your arm??

Reassuring thought....

Grift, i'm so totally by you with this one. I loved the demo and i'm going to love the game for sure. But as i was playing it for the first time i had a friend by, and i was showing him off what was being praised as probably the GOTY. We were totally immersed and baffled, but then the main character just finds this seringe with something and injects it. We we both immediately taken out of the Rapture, and were staring at each other "wtf? that's crap!".

A game which was so much praised about the involving story and more over, moral choices, er...should i have not have been given the choice to inject this, or at least a minor conflict with atlas about this?
From what you said this is going to be made clear further down the story line, let's just hope it's conving enough to forgive this perfect-10s-reviewed-game.

PLZ enough with BioShock-pics. Seen hundreds of them. The game is about 20 hour of gameplay so it's not necesseray to throw out images when the game is released now.

Enjoy the game by buying it instead

Enough Bioshock pics? You do realize the only pics posted were from 2 days ago...no Bioshock to play then unless you got it early. Anyway this thread really doesn't need to exist anymore.
