Baldo is clearly a game that ideally needed a bit more time to be fully ready to ship. Even though the few hours we were able to play before its launch didn't alarm us especially outside of some design choices, sadly many people have encountered game breaking bugs since the end of last week, us included (on Switch and Xbox One). We've been rather lucky on PC after 14 hours but it doesn't mean we haven't had our share of frustrations regularly. Still, Baldo oozes with passion and that what makes us keep playing. True, sometimes the game feels more like an old adventure game from the 80s (with hard puzzles to solve and huge amounts of time running in circles in search of a solution or the right place to go) than a Zelda-lookalike, but there is definitely something about it that always takes us back into its world. Right now, Naps Team's title needs updates, but according to them, all the bugs that have been reported have been fixed and the patches are just waiting for approval. A hotfix has just been posted on PC because Steam is more flexible than Nintendo, Xbox or Apple. Playstation owners should get the next patch sooner than the others from what we've been told. If you're still wondering whether or not to purchase the game, we think it's safer to wait until the patches are made available to see if they do fix everything. The devs have also said they're listening to the community in order to improve the overall experience and make it a bit less unforgiving. Until that happens, you can check the following video we captured on PC after forcing V-Sync in the Nvidia control panel to override the 30 fps cap. An option should soon be added to the menu on PC, along with the possibility to choose the game's resolution (something which is disappointingly missing for now), but the devs are focused on what's more urgent at the moment. It's been a difficult launch for sure, but Baldo is for us a bit of a diamond in the rough, so we hope the team will keep working hard to give it the final polish it deserves.
