After almost 9 months, the second episode of Blues & Bullets was finally released in April 2016. The main difficulty when launching the game was to get back in the story and atmosphere after such a long wait. Episodic titles cannot really allow themselves to disappear for almost a year before being back with more content, no matter how atmospheric they can be. This second episode has kept the main strengths of the previous one (its atmosphere, soundtrack and directing are really good), but it does not offer more challenge in the new investigation sequence we have played. You're still given some freedom when it comes to Ness' reactions in the dialogues, but the game's level design has remained just as linear as it was before. It's not a problem per se as it is story-driven after all, but we wouldn't mind seeing bigger locations in the future. What we don't really need though are the gunfights, which are not particularly interesting or fun to play. The poor animations and dated character models are still there too, but despite all that, this second episode is still captivating enough to make us want to see more. Let's just hope it won't be in another 9 months this time.
