If you have not yet succumbed to buying the latest title from Codemasters, here are some new videos of DiRT 3 captured from the PC version using Fraps. Like the ones from Driftwood, they are in 1080p and 60 frames per second, ultra settings. On the menu : four races and their replay, focusing on weather effects, rain, snow, night, and Gymkhana, all played with a G27, without any assist.
You should know that by now, we like to do things right, so we thought proposing to you videos of the PC version of DiRT 3 would be a nice addition to uncle Blim's excellent review. Though the game runs perfectly well on ultra setting on my PC (i5 3.2 Ghz 4 GB of RAM and Nvidia Geforce GTX 570), it is not easy to capture videos with a steady framerate using Fraps. Therefore, we will start with two 60 fps replay videos in 1080p. If we find a way to make proper gameplay videos, we'll add them later.
Update: Two gameplay videos added. All the PC videos have been captured using the Fanatec wheel.
Update 2: Subaru replay added.
Update 3: Added a video showing a replay in cockpit view. Mind the horrible music.
Update 4: Last video added showing a replay of a short Rallycross race in wet weather.
To celebrate its game launch, Codemasters sent us this new trailer showing some gameplay from several game modes present in DiRT 3.
Writing DiRT 3’s review has been one of the biggest challenges of my rather short game reviewer career. Not because the game is bad or uninteresting, but first because I have already written much about it in our preview, but also because I didn’t find a lot of negative things to say about it. I’ve searched and searched, but really couldn’t find much. It’s been a challenge to find enough to write to keep you occupied a few minutes reading this review, but thankfully you’ll also have quite a few videos to pass the time too.
Codemaster was nice enough to send us a preview build of DiRT 3, and as a fan of not-too-sim racing games I just had to get my keyboard out and write something about it. So after a few hours of gameplay, here are my first impressions.
