Mario Kart for the Wii was released today in Japan, and as usual now our friend DjMizuhara took some time to record some videos. Let's start with the intro, followed by some gameplay, with more to come of course!

A tiny screen from Mario Kart on the Nintendo Wii unveils up to eight players battles in one of the ten announced arenas. This balloon mode should also allow teams to compete against each other. The release date is set to April 11th of 2008 in Europe.

The champion of kart racing, Mario Kart, is revealed once again in popular magazine Famitsu. For now, we know the official japanese release date set to April 10, 2008 ; the possibility to use a wheelie movement with the bikes ; the possibility to use said bikes in Cup mode ; up to twelve players using Wi-Fi and the possibility to use Miis. For the first time of its long history, Mario Kart on the Nintendo Wii won't be limited to four wheels - bikes also enter the fray! Revealed during the automn Nintendo conference, they should add a whole new layer of fun during the races in spring 2008. The company also confirms a package with the Wii Wheel which will be bundled with the game.
