GSY Video Switch

After a comeback on PC, Xbox One and PS4, Metro Redux is now also playable on Nintendo Switch. If some sacrifices were obviously necessary to run the game on the Nintendo console (less detailed textures, transition from 60 fps to 30 fps, longer loading time), the overall quality is great and especially the frame rate locked at 30 fps.

Deep Silver unveiled Metro Redux will launch on Nintendo Switch January 28th. The physical version will provide both games on a 16Go card and pre-order bonuses are available at select retailers.

After the videos of Metro 2033 Redux, we did not have the opportunity to show you the improved graphics of Metro: Last Light Redux on Xbox One. Thanks to the download code Xbox sent us, now it is done. You can have a look at this remastered version of the original game and if you want, you can compare it with our PS4 and PC videos.

We already showed you the PS4 version of Metro Redux and it's time today to take a look at the game on Xbox One. As we have seen on PS4, this version suffers no framerate drops and rendering is almost identical on both consoles, apart from the 912p resolution on X1. Nothing to feel left out really but it will probably cause some more turmoil on certain forums. The code was sent to us by Xbox.

It took us a bit longer than expected to get our PS4 copy of Metro Redux but here is finally a couple of 1080p/60fps videos of this remaster of the two games. The difference between this new edition and the original on Xbox 360 and PS3 is pretty big as you can see, which should give those who have never played either games a good incentive to put their money down. Of course, if you have already completed Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, there is no real reason to get tempted, unless you think a smooth framerate and pretty PC graphics are enough to get you back to the Russian metro. Last Light's DLC's may also make it worth your while, provided you don't expect some massive improvements over the game itself. Enough chitchat, check out our videos and don't forget to compare them with the 360 gameplay footage of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light we captured back then.

Considering the new trend that HD remakes have become, it was no surprise when Deep Silver and Koch Media announced the summer release of Metro Redux on next gen consoles. What was more surprising however was that the two games were also planned on PC. Quite logically, it is essentially Metro 2033 which has the best chance to get the attention of those who have already played both episodes. Why? Because it has been rebuilt with the latest version of 4A Games' engine and it is now fully optimized. The new effects are mostly visible in the outdoor areas as you'll see in our videos but even in the tunnels the game is as atmospheric as ever. As for Last Light Redux, it includes all the DLC which have been released and also features some of the things the fans said were missing compared to 2033 (among which the possibility to check Artyom's watch). We should have PS4 videos by the end of the week but until then, check out our 5.1 PC videos and let us know if you want us to keep capturing surround footage.
Note: The stream being stereo only, if you want the full 5.1 experience, you have to download the videos.

Each title will be available to download for $24.99 and a retail version containing both games will be at $49.99. Both titles get ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features and graphical face-lift. Trailer, screens and more details after the jump.
