We first saw State of Mind 2 years ago in Cologne during Gamescom and it made quite an impression on us at the time. Then the game remained pretty discrete, at least here on Gamersyde, until its launch date was announced a few weeks back. The game will be available in 2 days on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, but as we were sent a copy early, here's our verdict in a full review. Enjoy!
Scifi thriller from Daedalic will launch on August 15th for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch. Pre-orders on GOG and Steam currently features 10% off.
The game is set in a dystopian Berlin in 2048 where many depressed people escape reality with The City, a digital utopia. Six characters are playable in State of Mind, amongst them the main protagonist Richard Nolan, a journalist against this society's development whose wife and kid mysteriously vanished. What ensue is a tale of global conspiracy where digitalism, surveillance and transhumanism have a major role.
Gamescom is a great place to meet with developers and last week was no exception. The man behind State of Mind is a captivating person, his passion for storytelling and the future was catching and when we left we were really impatient to try the final game ourselves. We have been impressed by the apparent depth of the plot and the themes he chose to include, so please take a few minutes to check out the following presentation.
We completely miss a month and half ago the announcement of the new interesting game from Daedalic so here we are talking about it now. State of Mind is a third-person futuristic thriller that deals with transhumanism and existential drama in a world torn between the dystopian Berlin of 2048 and a utopian virtual world. This will allow you to switch between the two worlds, play multiple characters with multiple choice dialogues. The adventure game is being developed with Unreal Engine 4 and is expected to release in early next year for PC and consoles. In the meantime, trailer and screens inside if you missed them too.
