Xbox 360

The very nice Mutant Storm Reloaded was one of the Xbox Live Arcade launch titles, but was a bit in the shadow by the awesome Geometry Wars. The developers at PomPom Games still must have been satisfied with the sales since they are now working on a sequel exclusively for 360. First screens inside.

Thanks to Brett for the info!

About the original, I've always wondered.. Does it support local co-op, and is it proper long/challenging?

The info on the arcade page is deliciously confusing. It says singleplayer but once in the game it's clearly a 2 player game aswell.

Looks really nice. MS really need to start getting these Arcade games out. With a few releases a month they would help get over the summer drought.

Yes, the 2 player mode is local co-op. Mutant Storm Empire is supposed to add Live co-op as well.

MSR starts off very easy, but as you progress it becomes insanely challenging. Not many people can get all 12 achievements. There are 89 unique levels, and a difficulty setting that ramps up the longer you survive. And in true arcade style, you can just keep on playing until you run out of lives.

for those that are wondering what kinda game this is, it's very similar to geometry wars, but a lot faster and with crazy monster type things and such... it has co-op... which is so awesomely fun. The first was the first game I bought on live arcade and when I play it now I still enjoy it.. plus it's super hard at the higher levels which means the game lasts you forever without running out of content.

Thanks Vaelwynd, I'll pick this up for sure then. I end up playing most co-op locally for some reason.

I argee "was a bit in the shadow by the awesome Geometry Wars" fills me with ire. Mutant Storm Reloaded is such a better game then Geo Wars that didnt get much attention. I cannot wait for this new title to come out. It looks amazing.

Pompom did say that those screens are a little old and some of the mutant designs have already changed.

Personally, I think I'd have to see it in motion before deciding if I like the new style better or not. The environments are certainly more interesting though. And I suspect each "world" will have a unique style, which should be nice.

They're actually bigger. If they appear smaller it's because you're not seeing the whole thing. Each room is going to be bigger than just one screen so you'll have to scroll around more to see it all.

Btw, my last post was in response to somebody (FireWire?) but that post disappeared as soon as I replied. Weird.

Mutant Storm Reloaded costs 800 points ($10 in the US). No price yet for MSE but it will probably be about the same. Once you buy it you can play it all you want. Are you new to Xbox Live Arcade? You can buy points through Xbox Live, or at the store on a card. Then you just go to Xbox Live Arcade in the dashboard and use the points to buy the games.

Erm... you can do that? That's almost too simple. And here I was thinking my post ate yours or something.
