After the first images unveiled a few days ago, Rockstar published a 4K trailer of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Update: Proper English version of the trailer (without subtitles) added.
I remember saying how great I imagined a Rockstar and Naughty Dog game made for PS4/XB1 when these consoles were announced. Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us: Part II both look insanely awesome and far beyond what I imagined.
With both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett announced and dated for 2020, now it's time to start imagining what the next GTA6, RDR3, UC5 and TLoU3 will look like, but knowing they will look even better than whatever I can imagine...

Watch them repackage this same trailer next holiday when RDR2 inevitably gets ported to PS5 and Scarlett.
Depending on the hardware. with optmizations and more graphical enhancements, it might look even better on a PS5/XB4. However, since they're both backwards compatible - XB4 will be for select digital titles - one can simply use their PS4/XB1 version on the next gen consoles.
I'm also sure that a lot of games released in 2019 and 2020 will either get PS5/XB4 patches like many games got PS4Pro/XB1X patches, or they will get a GOTY/Definitive/Ultimate edition later in the year or in 2021. Cross gen allows many publishers to sell the same game twice, same as many people who played RDR2 on consoles will buy the PC version for all the mods and/or tweaks to the gameplay.
I know some people who hated the extremely realistic systems in RDR2 and are awaiting for the modding community to release QoL mods for the game like Fast Travel, so they can play and enjoy the game the way they want. Either way, everybody's gonna get what they want.
The Last of Us: Part II on PS5 will be awesome as well. Since Naughty Dog is owned by Sony, I'm sure they will make a PS5 version or patch. Though a GOTY edition in 2021 is more likely.
The PC version really does look great. a great addition to pc gaming. maybe one day they'll bring the first game to pc as well, a real treat.

was thinking the same. probably have to wait and see for that. the current gen also launched a enhanced version of GTAV. I think more importantly though what will likely factor RD2 PC from the next gen would be MOD support. and GTAV PC had plenty of it.

Anything is possible for Xbox as well. Gears digital Collection used the PC version of Gears1 as well.
That draw distance is staggering - even better than maxed out GTA V. Which is concerning, considering that maximum distance grass threw even RTX2080TI into low 40s at 4k. Hopefully they've optimized that part somehow.
Edit: I also hope for fixed HDR, as PS4Pro version is broken and washed out, but given abysmal record of HDR problems on PC it's but a wishful thinking.
Am I the only person who has problems playing the downloaded video file locally? I tried via USB on my Blu-ray player, my PS4 Pro and my TV. Also tried to play the file with MPV and VLC video players. Either it's not playing at all or sound is broken...

Hi, I've downloaded and played the file normally using VLC. Though it does make Mirillis Splash Player crash, however this happens very rarely with some videos from GSY for some reason. Since my file plays correctly with VLC, you might have gotten a corrupted file.
Looks like what I would expect from the PC version, which is to say stunning. I expect fully next gen games to look better in a number of ways, for instance, terrain geometry, character modelling, but draw distance in this is already pretty much there. Awesome looking game

I also had problems playing this on my tv. The video has been encoded with MPEG-4 Simple Profile and not AVC/H264. It plays fine with VLC, but i had to re-encode it to H264 for playback on my tv.
Rockstar has a H264 version for download which you may want to try: Rockstar RDR2 PC Trailer

"compared to this, the footage of Last of Us Part II looks like a lastgen-game, lacking attention to detail"
yeah. you can see for yourself the detail in full force. max drawing distance way far out.
incredible wildlife detail. everything is alive. it really does look like a next gen game.
GamingBolt actually put out a tech video a few weeks ago for the ToU2.
the snow effects were quoted as "static" shader based. https://youtu.be/Xa_I9lubrR8?t=345
even less impressive than the snow tech used in grears5.

i find it funny that people doubt naughty dog.
sure gears has great snow and sand effects and textures and they were unvieled late in the game, but the early open settlements and zones look just like an uprez 360 game and bad in any way you look at it. lack of geometry was thrown around,
The snow effect of LoUII was firstly shown late when the live demos started and it looks great to really good, making for a whole package, the ND difference is that they nail every vision, detail, effect thet tackle with mastery and realism, other devs hardly can compete.
