Wii

Opoona is an out of the ordinary videogame set in the adventure genre with RPG elements and is under development for Nintendo Wii. Its visual style visual in cel-shading is charming. Finally a tasty production which is not limited to the groundwork of several Wii games. It proposes a visual originality with a notable team of development, of which Shintaro Majima (Dragon Quest) as lead artist and composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII). Launch is planned this spring.

And yet another Wii game aimed at 6 year olds. Oh there's nothing wrong with that but I hope there will be more games like No More Heroes because otherwise, this will have been a pretty expensive Zelda player.

So it is wrong if the trailer sold me on this game and I'm 21 y.o.? I guess I'm a baby, as are all those interested by this game.

Wow im impressed, the wii could do with some more RPGs, it reminds me of Phantasy Star but with turn based battle.

MrGreen just because the Art style looks for younger audiences doesn't mean its not for adults, Blue Dragon is basically the same.

Hopefully it comes to the west.

Oh I didn't mean to insult anyone and more power to you if you dig it but the art style is clearly aimed at a younger audience, and it just doesn't appeal to me. At all.

Cool, so I guess you did not try Dark Cloud 2 and Blue Dragon, or else you would understand why i'm hyped - Opoona looks similar from a visual point of view, and looks better than most shovelware being developed right now on this console.

Oooh, it reminds me of Phantasy Star Online very much, the music and environments seem cool, but it's a real shame about the character design...

Neither of those games are similar to this at ALL in character design (visuals).

Hm... I think the style is quite ok, but sorry, I'm just too used to games that feature voice overs and round shapes where you can't see the polygons (reminds me of... 2002?)... The real Nintendo titles are all pretty nice, but that's where it ends on the Wii...

This points towards lower production cost while at the same time being quite stylized, Japanese developers are struggling with the rising next gen game development costs as it is anyway. But graphics aren't everything, I'm sure they've managed to cook up a really addictive formula. Looks good to me.

I don't see how blue dragon and dark cloud 2 have anything in common with this game at all. As far as visuals go, this to me just looks like any traditional rpg with character designs borrowed from Lego Star Wars. I can understand how the Lego video games look the way they look, but this game there's nothing revolutionary about someone drawing a smiley face and throwing it onto a round surface.

As for gameplay, nothing really exciting so far, just shows some battles that look no different than other rpgs, and the world itself wasn't anything spectacular. But this is only what I've seen from the trailer which is too short to really make a good judgment call. Not trying to say it's a bad game but I don't see anything that makes this game stand out either.

Come'on, you could have known that before you bought a Nintendo platform.. The Wii is as much a hardcore gamingconsole as the Xbox 360 is for little kids.. Offcourse both have their exceptions, but their main audiences are pretty clear imho..

The game has nice environments, and no doubt, the music is Sakimoto style. It´s shame the characters don´t look so great, and the animations are simple. But It´s very nice to see that, cause I´m sure we will see great rpg´s on Wii sooner or later.

I think you need to look again, there is a reticle on screen that you target the enimies with, no idea how it works but it sure doesn't look standard to me.

There wasn't any menu system in battle either.

The monsters reminded me of Blue Dragon, and the environments reminded me of both Blue Dragon and Dark Cloud 2. I never said the characters were. I still think it looks good, haters be gone! x)
