Considering how familiar most people are with the Alien now, I'd question how effective any new "Alien" fiction can really be in comparison to an original story, even if an original story was to take inspiration from Alien.
Also Routine will be combat oriented; there isn't just one monster.
Original rumours surrounding this game mentioned human enemies and later more then 1 alien. Whether that was BS or whether it was considered but didn't work? Who knows. Hell, maybe it's all still planned. But if so my anticipation drops quite significantly.
"You, as Amanda, spend most if not all of the game on a single space station, according to our source. There's only one alien for "most" of the game, our source said; you'll mostly be shooting through "clones and soldiers." Vents, lockers, and melee weapons are a big part of Isolation, our source said, and the game is heavily inspired by the first Alien movie."
That was the original info about the game. Hopefully things have changed.
Anyway, this is the first time i see a game in this franchise and feel hyped about it. Just hope it doesn't get the shaft from some dumb fuck at sega that thinks it hasn't got enough space marines in it or some shit.
Though I do hope we get to battle with, or run from, an Andriod at some point.
