It's not really a surprise, but it's still a good news considering the quality of the previous game, Ubisoft just announced Assassin's Creed Revelation. Ezio is still the hero, but this time he's going back on his ancestor's steps. First screen inside.
Press release:
London, UK – May 5, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft announced the development of Assassin’s Creed® Revelations, the fourth installment in the critically acclaimed and immensely popular video game franchise. Developed and led by Ubisoft Montreal with the support and expertise of Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest, Assassin’s Creed Revelations presents the most immersive experience available in the series to date and the culmination of Ezio’s adventure. The game is set to release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC this November.
Initially launched in 2007, the first three Assassin’s Creed® games have sold more than 28 million units worldwide, and the franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series on next generation consoles. Recognized for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin’s Creed has transcended video games, branching out into other entertainment experiences such as comic books, Facebook, novels, short films and more.
In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.
In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, the acclaimed online multiplayer experience returns, refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters that allow players to test their assassin skills against others from around the world. The latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga also includes revolutionary gameplay, allowing players to manipulate the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future.
“Delivering the final chapter of the Ezio trilogy is an important milestone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise for us and for our fans,” said Alexandre Amancio, Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal. “Assassin’s Creed Revelations includes lots of new features and some significant surprises. We can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store at E3 this year.”

AC2 from AC1 was great, Brotherhood was pushing it, this just crossed the fucking line.
I thought it was AC3 reveal, but I was silly to think so.
Will not buy any AC game again, gameplay is boring to me.

This series has lost my interest until AC3. However, I think it is good they are getting more money from fans and refining their formula before releasing the big one.
I think they're waiting to coincide it with 2012 anyway.
Awesome news, cannot wait for more AC

Just gives us AC3 and be done with it, how more can they milk AC2 for God's sakes??
This is a no buy!
But the more I see the more I know the gameplay overal is boring and too slow for me unless I see a overhaul which I doubt they will do.

I will probably play it at some point as I will play Brotherhood but maybe next year.
Besides, other than counter attacks I seen in Brotherhood, combat is really boring.
I love some of the counter attack moves, visceral and nasty to watch, especially with the dagger and the hidden blades.
Yes pleaseeeeeeeee!!!
I love Altaïr,...Ezio not so much BUT..seeing him change and grow older, (see picture added by Sath), makes me like him a bit more. They should've started his story as that old master assassin.
Back to Altaïr. I like his mystic look, though he needed a beard (like Big Boss).
The Assassins were Muslim but he married a Christian woman which I liked. The only thing I didn't like about him was his American accent. They should've made an Altaïr-trilogy. Also the outfit Altaïr is wearing is still the best AC outfit. Simple but different.
Looking forward to this. I like the setting (Constantinople). Ezio better be less casanova and more assassin (attitude-wise)
I can't believe people are bitching about it. AC has a really good story with unique gameplay elements that improve more and more each game, and the devs actually listen to fan feedback.
Stretching the games out? Hell yeah if it keeps being this good.
AC3 would've been better but the way Brotherhood ended this was likely the next logical step
I'm ready for a new character in a slightly more modern setting.
