GSY Video PS5 Xbox Series X PC PS4 Xbox One

Our PS5 coverage is far from over, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla now, which benefits from a nice visual boost, not to mention the framerate, compared to the PS4 Pro version we reviewed. Everything isn't perfect though as we are sad to report that tearing has invited itself to the party and it can be pretty visible (during some cutscenes or in some locations like enemy camps or even caves). Oddly enough, in the biggest vilages we've seen it seemed to be non existent, or close to it anyway. Let's hope the developers will find a way to get rid of it without sacrificing the smoothness of the game.

Yes, the tearing in cutscenes and a few other places is unfortunate, but the Xbox versions also have it. Since it's an issue on almost all platforms, I'm sure Ubisoft has received thousands of complaints and reports about it. Even Digital Foundry talked about it, so I believe Ubisoft will fix it in their next patch or the one after that. Although they certainly knew this was ocurring and decided to release the game anyway. So business as usual.

Thanks for the vid, I bought the ps4 version and can't wait to upgrade it to next gen. It looks great and performance seems surprisingly very solid throughout. The screen tearing is unfortunate but at least it looks like it's less frequent on ps5 and with vrr on series x it gets fixed completely.

Sony urgently needs to enable VRR on PS5. I have no idea how such an important feature is missing at launch... and hopefully not for good.
