I'm not really getting a next gen vibe from the screens... not sure why it's not on PS360 unless they're doing something groundbreaking with the gameplay.

OMG!!! Those graphics looks on par to it's CGI trailer! I hope they can pull this off on the retail version of this game.

Game seems to be shaping up very nicely. Definitely awaiting for a gameplay trailer before or during this year's E3. Specially of the batmobile, the new fear takedown system and using gadgets while gliding.

PS. That Arkham Knight render's quality, so beautiful. =D

Is this still Unreal Engine 3 or are they using a newer one?

Rocksteady said in the Game Informer article that Batman: Arkham Knight is using a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3.

Wish it was using Unreal Engine 4, but like Epic Games states in it's UE4's official site: "UE4 is still in beta stage". Plus the time to port everything, learn, master and fully utilize UE4's features would mean at least an additional year of development.

Amazing to me the legs that UE3 has. This looks pretty damn good to me. This is UE3 finally being pushed to samaritan levels of fidelity. It's kinda sad that we're only just now seeing what this engine can do with the likes of this and outlast before everyone moves on to UE4. Although I am excited about UE4, I wonder if it will be a similar situation of that engine going under utilized for an entire generation. Daylight certainly isn't helping it's cause...

I believe this isn't UE3 proper, but a heavily modified version. As for UE3, the engine can only do what its hardware lets it... if you wanna see what UE3 could do at its absolute peak just jump into a PC version of one of their latest games.

I have, and they generally don't look much better other than the resolution and framerate boost. It's not like simply running it on better hardware magically enables extra features and effects or anything. Based off of what I'm seeing from these screens, this appears to be the best I've ever seen an UE game look.

You mean the lensflare? The lensflare on the left of the image is doing the classic "I'm just going to fade out the texture as the light source is covered up" thing that texture lens flare generally does. Lensflare is real in games, ya know?

And I'm saying that the reason it looks this good is that its NOT UE3 proper. They've said as much in interviews.

I'm sure there are some major changes under the hood to enable the engine to properly handle a big open world with vehicles and whatnot, but from a pure graphics perspective, it TOTALLY looks like an UE game. It just looks like an amazing UE game. Outlast was similar. It looked fantastic and there weren't a whole lot of tweaks made there. I think the engine is just very capable and we now have the hardware for devs to fully utilize all of its capabilities.

Ya it looks like one because it is, just not UE3.. think of it more like UE 3.5 + other shit

The cape physics need to be like they are in the CG trailer. Am I the only one who thinks the cloth physics don't have any weight to them?

No, i mean the batmobile's lights. Looks too perfect if you compare it to the lighting in the back. Oh, and lensflare's been around since Earthworm Jim on the SNES, so... NOT impressed.

Seeing as we haven't seen the game in motion that's hard to say. But I can say playing the PC versions of the last games with PhysX enabled capes they looked pretty good. Particularly in origins where the cape was also tesselated. I think it should look fine in this one since both MS and Sony are licensing PhysX from nvidia for xbone and PS4.
