Images PC Xbox 360 PS3

To celebrate the announcement of Colin McRae: Dirt 2's release date, Codemasters releases four new screenshots. While it is hard to believe that the game's engine is capable of such graphical feats, for we saw it before our very eyes at E3, we are not too worried.
Update: Added a new official video showing a replay of a Rallycross event. Even though this has to be from the PC version, it's still very impressive graphically.

The Tracks are really in a whole other level when you think of Forza or GT, but the game has a little weird blur/heat filter... seems like I'm seeing a 3D Image, without the 3D glasses.

i think these screen are far more believable then some of the early ones...this actually looks in-game, the early ones looked photoshopped to hell.

Yeah, but when you look at the gameplay footage, it looks the same, which is amazing if you ask me. This is a great example of a game not looking "real" but still looking amazing. Now, if only this were called Rallysport Challange 3...

I agree these definitely look ingame, just with some heavy filters applied. The early ones weren't photoshopped though, at least not the very first ones if that's what you're referring to. They were pure computer generated renders.

in-game? these are press shots nothing more nothing less from the inventors of bullshots codemasters. and the only video on gamersyde is off screen not direct feed. it still has to prove itself imo. overdone Bloom killed the look of the first game if they have sorted that out it will be killa cause the first game was pretty impressive otherwise

Yeah, no way in hell is this going to run like this on consoles, and I doubt even on PC it'll have AA and whatnot like that. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of being told that shots with infinite AA and texture filtering and every other trick in the book shows the actual fidelity of the game. I want actual gameplay (ie, someone ACTUALLY playing, not some sort of ingame, processed, cinematic or something), direct feed. Especially when the game is played with, ya know, motion. I used to really love this site, but I keep getting the feeling their more and more biased. These are bullshots. Granted, this game is gorgeous, but admit it. In screenshot form, it's not as pretty. And I mean ACTUAL screenshots.

saw some new ingame footage on IGN.. and to be honest its abit of a let down. There's no real colour pallet or shine to it in motion like "screen shots" suggest. Its impressive, theres alot going on on screen.. alot more crowd, dust, track marks ect.. but i dunno, its certainly not a huge step up from Grid, and it just seemed to be abit "sterile" in the footage i saw

just watched it and it looked amazing, textures have been improved a LOT since the first one, as have all the little details that matter.

it's not a mcrae game imo, hasnt been since the first DiRT, but it's a fun offroad racer. i just wish there was a more focused rally game coming out..i'd prefer it to this americanised thing they've created.

mcrae's just a brand.. like tom clancy. Just a way to shift more titles - they can call it a tribute all they want

The only americanised thing that i hope is attached to the rallying are the dirt buggy races which i thought stood out in the original Dirt.

The textures i werent too impressed with in that footage, better than dirt yes..but on par with Grids i thought

i thought it was better then GRiD too tbh. not a gargantuan leap or anything, but noticably better.

i hope we get rain this time round, they did some awesome rain in the ps2/xbox versions of mcrae, with the windscrteen and the wipers and all that, but it was absent in DiRT...which was a shame. some wet stages in general would be nice tbh.

god i miss the old games. i wish they never added all the other random crap tbh.
