Soooo awesome! The demo felt so good in terms of controls and all the action happening on screen.

My Most Wanted #1 this summer! Co-Op should be an absolutely blast.

i dont know how, but they broke crackdown. that or i'm remembering the first game with rose tinted glasses. the movement feels a lot worse, as do the general mechanical changes (aiming) climbing is a pain in the ass most of the time (the amount of times i tried to climb a building only to hit my head on some protruding part of the window above me is insane. considering the climbing isnt all that in-depth, they could have at least designed/changed the buildings to work better for such a limiting climbing ability. the mutant thing feels cheap, the objectives dont feel all that interesting, the graphics are WORSE (how, i dont know) the narrator guy talks WAY too much (i'll put that down to it being a tutorial/demo)

man, i LOVED crackdown...i was one of the few who bought it FOR crackdown, not the halo 3 beta, but whatever made it so great has not aged well. i honestly dont know if i can bring myself to rent this. never mind buy it.

what the hell happened

Too many great games to play, this won't be one of them.

Dunno if it was because of the video but the animation of the objects and the camera made me sick. Doesn't look very smooth. But these shots during day make it look a bit more cozy, I guess. Still, the environment is exactly the same as the first one, they just took the same model and changed textures. This way I don't really feel like jumping in and explore. Maybe if they'd make some dlc that remodels the whole city into something new or perhaps if they'd decide to put the game into some real city like New York or something.

Exclusive title, worse graphics than the first game. Yeah this game will get some bashing...

When you actually took the time to raise your skills you'd see that the gameplay mechanics are actually better than the first CD. Also had some hilarious chain reactions already. You didn't even need that to realise that the shooting is actually tons better.

I'll buy it simply because I think this is going to be a laugh.

Worse graphics? Ehhh ... http://www.bitmob.com/articles/crackdown-1-vs-crac...

Not to mention 4 Player Co-Op (CD1 was 2) and MUCH more action on screen.

Worse graphics ... lol.

Download the demo and compare that directly to CD1. Close up the game looks like a brownish mess of low res textures. The panoramic shots show that the sequel has a better draw distance, more detail in general and hundreds of characters on screen. But the art direction pulls the visuals down the toilet (your toilet).

What the hell happened ? Evolution Happened. Games got better. Crackdown 2 IS Crackdown, but the year is 2010, not 2007 :(

For us who have played CD 1, why would we want to collect the orbs again? Eh. Do they really expect us to play the same game again?

If your idea of "better" graphics is less color and... well just less color, then sure, I guess it looks "fantastic".

Here's a tip: You can turn down the saturation and contrast on your TV and save yourself $50. The only difference is that you can't run around in a Spartan suit.

Having just this second played the demo the textures are definatly sharper, and the colour pallets pretty much the same. The draw distance is hard to get a good grasp on as it locks out most of the world. And theres way more characters on screen at a given time this time round (nowhere near as many cars though). The game throws so much out to get you that you dont really get time to breath.

The engines also nolonger vanishes everything you pass as soon as you pass it like in CD1. So theres definatly improvements there.. just not leaps of it

I don't think it's worth a full retail price..theres not enough new there, and afew noticable things have been taken away. But i'd pick up in the sales at an"expansion price" for sure

Crackdown was never about looking good in closeups, it excelled in the big leaps, high above buildings, fast running, fast driving, explosions et al. Looks fine to me.

I wasn't that interested in playing in the same city again, but I guess at least I'd know where the landmarks are. Also, demo? Sure. I'll give that a go.

You're not used to the limited jumping capabilities at low levels of agility. It was the same way in the original Crackdown.

To be fair, it doesn't feel like the first city... AT ALL. I defy you to go on and on till you actually encounter a landmark you can recognize from the first game.

agility leveled up quite a bit in the demo. it wasnt the inability to jump high that was the problem, it was the fact the buildings are designed in such a way that they cannot be climbed smoothly. when climbing is as limited as only grabbing onto ledges and edges, you can't put protruding section on the buidling that stop you dead in your tracks. i was just jumping up windows and banging my head on the ledges above. its broken design if ever i've seen it. it was an issue in the first game, but it seems even worse here.

But from the comparison images it's very clear the game has the same geometry. How can it be worse now?

Agree,I dont have any problem with that, there is some tricks to climb pretty much everything in the game.

I wanted to have double jump, wall-jump of sorts and maybe the ability to run across walls etc. Things that would have made the agility part of Crackdown 2 seem fresh and different from the first one. Now its exactly the same gameplay from 3 years ago, And that's lame tbh. It would have forced them to make some changes to the buildings and the overall layout but i don't see how thats a bad thing.

Now the game feels almost like a remake without re-making it really.

I said something like this sometime ago, after playing something like Prototype and the way the main dude in there interacts with the buildings and stuff I tought we would see something like that here at least in the animation department I wouldve love that.

I agree it feels like a remake and I feel bad about it because the first is one of my most beloved games ever, this one just simple is not the same the magic is gone to me.

KORNdog @Seth: Maybe you know what the point of the laser dot attatchment was? All it seemed to do was fuck up your aim and add a stupid amount of recoil. Was i missing something? (1 Hour ago)
  • Seth
Seth You can use shootdodge even if your bullettime meter is empty! Reached ''bulletsponge'' enemies-they are cake if your aiming is decent. For guys with helmets two shots in the head are enough.:)) (1 Hour ago)
