Agreed. As much as I loved the original, no way in hell am I shelling out 60 or even 50 dollars for all the same characters (plus a few new ones), in a slightly different setting. This isn't a game you buy for the story, so having the same characters, weapons, and basically location (with some minor changes and additions) is not enough to warrant a new game.
I still think it will be incredible, especially if they fix all the issues from the first, but I will wait for bargain bin or rental.

In the past media they've definitely shown new weapons and 4 new characters would only guarantee new skins.
I never expected a game series called "Dead Island" to feature vastly different locations, but they look interesting from what's been shown. I was already sold, but a developer walk through would definitely settle the score on what's new and what's re-used.
