After playing through Dead Island: Riptide, we must say we had a lot of fun once again, but we have to warn you that this new episode looks more like Dead Island 1.1 than Dead Island 1.5. Because the game plays it safe by proposing the exact same experience as the first game (minus a few additions like the nice hub defense missions), many will probably dismiss it or at least wait until a price drop. Now depending on how much you enjoyed yourself when playing Dead Island, Riptide is a good way to have your share of zombie fun this year which, after the disastrous Survival Instincts, is definitely something. Check out our videos of the PC version and don't mind the few frame drops you can see, they are due to Fraps and Mirilis Action!

One of the few releases of April shows up with some new images. Dead Island: Riptide is still scheduled for the end of this month on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

The new in-game trailer of Dead Island: Riptide shows the group of survivors struggling for their lives on the island of Palanai surrounded by deep jungles and mangrove swamps. The game will be out next month.

Here is the first gameplay footage of Dead Island: Riptide. This 9-minutes walkthrough shows boats, zombie onslaught, and defending hub areas. Deep Silver will release the game on April 23rd in North America, three days later in Europe.

Dead Island: Riptide is officially announced with a bunch of screenshots showing that the archipelago has been completely flooded, making survival even more difficult. The city of Henderson and the jungle of Palanai Island will then only be explorable by boat and the weather conditions will affect visibility. A fifth character will join the original cast to face new types of atrocities and mutations. The survivors will often have to defend their base and protect it with fences for example.
