Trailer PS4

Death Stranding finally has a release date, and it's going to be November 8! A new trailer is available, and as it's sadly usual now it's only on Youtube, so you'll get it embedded in this news, along with 10 4K screenshots. I guess it's better than nothing!
Update : high quality trailer added.

EDIT: Bah, read the news text, sorry to hear YouTube only.  I wasn't aware Sony started doing that as well.

Thanks anyway :)

The gameplay looks slooow, which is ok for me, but i think quite a bit of people won't dig it.
Overall i like what i saw, great visuals, open world part looks kinda barren, but alternate dimensions (no idea if these are more linear?) are great and super weird. I'll support our good ol Kojima for experimenting, even though his last great game for me was MGS 3, many years ago.

btw can't unsee the mgsv re-used animations. Not a big negative, but expected a bit more there. ;p

"Death Stranding on November 8 in a few images"

I think the title should read "and a few images".

anyways interesting trailer. interesting enough was the absence of a "only on PS" watermark. which (by Sony policy) is placed on knowledgeable PS exclusives as confirmation. which means the old 2015 contract of Death Stranding remained. in particular Death Stranding's 2015 contract mentioned a PC version would be up to Kojima Productions.

which also explains Kojima's visit to Valve a while back.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/hideo-kojima-valve-gabe-n...

If it's correct, Death Stranding should appear in the Database of Steam Sometime in the future.

Side note
Heavy rain PC demo was released a few days back. Gamersyde should upload some feeds on it.
which includes PC exclusive features such as 60fps + HDAO.

I feel this game is going to be Kojima’s best work yet. The open world looks legit post-apocalyptic world with futuristic sci-fi technology. It may look barren for certain areas but i believe they offer some variety of breathtaking sceneries.

The battle mechanics, however, reminded me of MGSV with the slow-mo executions which is pretty stylish. I think Kojima have carried over the characteristic of Fox engine to mesh with this new Decima engine that offers higher graphical fidelity. Also, the cast are theatrical at this point.

With 3 years of development from ground-up, i’m amazed by Kojima’s resiliency. When this baby is due on the 8th of November, it’s going to be a wonderful treat to gamers and gaming industry.

Loving how gorgeous Death Stranding looks. Also, the YouTube trailer has a 4k option, it's not the same as Gamersyde's quality - even at 1080p, but it's still about 3 times better than YouTube's 1080p quality - judging by the videos sizes, 4k = 550 MB vs 1080p = 188 MB.

I would doubt a PC build.  Considering that the game is built on first party Sony tech.  I suppose stranger things have happened but the simple matter of how much of a hand (and how much of their checkbook has been utilized) Sony has in this thing, I dunno.  Seems very unlikely.

If I remember correctly there was talk of timed exclusives for both this and Final Fantasy VII Remake but it seems things have changed

All that means is that Half-Life 3 is confirmed and being made by Kojima Productions. After Kojima is done with HL3, Gabe promised to finish act 3 of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. So Kojima goes 1st - 1 finger - and Gabe goes 2nd - 2 fingers.

firstly, addressing the 2015 contract footnotes for Death Stranding. they were never meant to be viewed outside of sony. which is why it was pulled. I wouldn't expect their NDA to change. going as far back, particularly with the Crash Insane Trilogy. the NDA for it was strict as well. based on recollection, the is no "timed exclusive" in Sony's dialect and trailers. if there is a timed exclusive from them, it will exclude certain info and not feature a "only on" watermark. but still remain under NDA.

PC in particular is not patented or owned by any company. unlike Nintendo and Xbox. which is generally why all games are developed on PC in the first place. it just takes having source code.

i'm still wondering about the source code for Heavy Rain and beyond two souls. pretty sure their source code was locked to PS3. and yet they are on Epic's game store.
https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/heav...
https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/beyo...

this now opens up on the old debunked theories.

.....Maybe. i thought of this. but no. Kojima visited Gabe. not the other way around. if it was the other around it would have been either HL3, Portal3 or L4D3. all 3 of them are still up for possibility. Gabe though in particular does not need a E3 to Debut his games. he own steam for Pete sake and has millions of users logged in. he can host a whole event on his station...with a countdown.

yeah, i don't see it happening either. i think if it was using something like unreal4 the likelihood would have been higher, but given this is the decima engine, created entirely by an in-house sony owned studio, it just doesn't seem like it would happen. this is a very different situation to say, journey and heavy rain. both of which were external entities from sony themselves. if until dawn had been ported to PC i'd have maybe thought differently, but heavy rain being on PC isn't really proof of anything.

Not even the trailers for Sony's first-party games on Youtube have that only on Playstation watermark though, go check out God of War and Spider-Man trailers. Besides, you are talking about an old contract from 2015 but Death Stranding didn't even exist in 2015 and a lot has changed since then. Kojima in 2016 after visiting many Sony studios decided to use Guerilla's Decima engine, started making the game and revealed the game in mid-2016. Considering at this point the facts that this game is entirely funded by Sony, uses proprietary Sony engine and the Death Stranding IP being owned by Sony, I doubt it is up to Kojima Productions to decide the game will go to PC or not.

Sony probably agreed with Quantic Dream to release Detroit, Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain on Epic store as the studio decided to went independent and unlike Death Stranding Sony doesn't even own the trademark for Heavy Rain. Plus those are niche games not exactly system sellers so it probably doesn't matter much for Sony (though Epic's money probably helped with that decision too lol).

"Below" - 2018 - (PC/Xbox) - Build on the "PhyreEngine" made by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

btw Kojima doesn't deny the rumors of a Death Stranding PC version.

sony sub-licensed their engines before. "Journey" was also using sony's PhyreEngine.
in the case of death stranding. if a pc version ever happens. it will be on the side. deals usually change or renew.

The most i can see is Sony let you play it via PS Now on PC, just like you can Bloodborne and TLoU, but not many exclusives are available so far....

while it could turn out to be another PhyreEngine situation where Decima becomes a free-to-use engine, nothing actually points to that being the case currently in regards to Decima. as i say, if a previous game had already been ported to PC that used that engine (horizon or until dawn), i'd more likely believe it to be the case, but right now, i just don't see it happening.

The comments made regarding Kojima maybe releasing a PC version was actually prior to them establishing the use of the Decima engine too. They spent time after announcing their partnership with Sony looking for the right engine to use, and i imagine the choice of Decima killed the chance of a PC port there and then.

but i guess we'll see.

more news updated today about PC death Stranding.
"“The PS4 cover didn’t have the “Only on PS” label because DS it’s coming to PC at a later date, that’s the deal signed between Kojima and Sony, the game will be a timed PS4 exclusive and will be available on PC later on (won’t be available on Xbox), i don’t know if it’s a 6 or 12 months exclusive”
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/italian-leaker-hint...

interesting enough Gears 5 was also confirmed for steam. possibly older gears games to follow via xbox game pass for pc. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/gears-5-is-official...

looks like PC is going to have a party in the future. you can bet the FFVII remake will be there as well.

He actually posted on twitter that he's basing his theory on the lack of "only on" and the comments Kojima made on 2015 prior to deciding to use the first party decima engine. He doesn't actually KNOW anything. unlike the release date, which he did.

aware of that.

the leaks will probably go silent for a while, because of the NDA. then we'll hear more about it at a later date.
just to clarify, the 2015 info leak was specifically about the IP. so the question is not IF it's coming but when. if it's using Decima or they plan to switch to the HLF3 engine with Gaben treatment, whichever. pretty sure the visit Gaben HQ wasn't for nothing...

Kojima has visited a lot of studios and nothing has come from them. He just seems to be a fan of other developers work.and likes to see how other studios tick. I mean he visited Remedy this year, should we expect an announcement that he's working on Alan wake 2? He visited sucker punch last year. Maybe they're going to make a death stranding 2. And don't forget that time he visited blizzard and the overwatch team, I'll make sure to mark that down as confirmation of blizzard being involved in kojima's next project....

Reality is the guy is using his fame within the Games industry to meet a bunch of people he is inspired by or is simply a fan of. Whether they're movie stars he likes, or directors he appreciates or studios he admires...hell, the people he has involved in death stranding can tell you that. I mean there is litterally no reason at all to have the likeness of Del Toro and Refn in that game besides being a nerdy fan of their work. Hell even the Bionic Woman era appearance of Lindsey Wagner just screams "because I'm a fan"...

I'm not saying the Decima engine or Death Stranding on PC will NEVER happen. There are circumstances where I think it's possible, but Kojima visiting valve is the weakest evidence of it.
