Update2: HQ English dubbed trailer added.
Montréal (April 8, 2015) – Square Enix® and Eidos-Montréal®, the award-winning studio behind the critically acclaimed, multimillion-selling Deus Ex: Human Revolution®, today announced that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided™, the next chapter in the legendary Deus Ex® franchise, is in development for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC. The action role-playing game brings one of the most well-known, immersive and discussed worlds to the newest generation of consoles and high-end PCs.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes place in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution and the infamous ‘Aug Incident’ in Panchaea that resulted in the death of millions at the hands of those who had installed augmentations. This event has created a huge divide between those who have augmentations, and those who do not. Amongst this emotional turmoil are various factions looking to manipulate the public by twisting public opinion of augmentation to further their own agenda and hide the truth of what really happened.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided also continues the story of Adam Jensen, a former biotech company security chief turned super-augmented, anti-terrorist agent playing by his own rules. Jensen has been empowered with all new augmentations, enabling him and the player a greater sense of self-control as they explore all new locations in-game. As social and political tensions reach a major turning point, Jensen and conspiracies surrounding the Illuminati continue toward an inevitable crossroads … and possibly, an epic showdown.
“For 15 years, Deus Ex has been a point of conversation across the games industry and beyond, whether the topic is the franchise’s unique gameplay or topical narrative focused on advanced biotechnology and human augmentation,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio, Eidos-Montréal. “What began with Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes to a whole new level in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, diving even deeper into this discussion and, in turn, offering fans an all-encompassing experience, one which will challenge their skills as players and emphasize decision-making based on real world topics.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will also mark a new era in Eidos-Montréal’s technology, utilizing the advanced visual and immersive capabilities of the Dawn Engine™, specifically built for the recent generation of consoles and PC. Under the umbrella of the Gaming Evolved program, AMD and Eidos-Montréal have been collaborating on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the game will feature Microsoft’s DirectX® 12 support as well as AMD’s TressFX™. These features will not only raise the bar in game performance but bring unrivalled visual fidelity to the Deus Ex franchise..
The release date for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be announced at a later date.

Gamersyde jaded me. I can't watch Youtube anymore :P
Adam Jensen looks and doing badass shit in CGI as usual, music is badass from the same composer (Michael McCann)!
I am happy that they are going to copy Crysis (one of the best original FPS games out there) real time weapon modification, and its only pc/ps4/x1 so they arent being held back from last gen.
Also of note is that almost everything seen in the DE:HR CG trailers were gameplay elements in the actual game. And from the news and images from Game Informer, seems like that's the case for DE:MD as well, so almost everything that looks badass in this trailer will most likely be in the actual game.
Like, for example, that last scene seems to be a group takedown similar to DE:HR's single and double takedowns, and with the way the AI is supposed to call backup and group together in DE:MD, that's most likely a new move.
Also love the "Blink" style teleport, reminded me of Dishonored and I hope it works similar to it. So many great potential gameplay elements.
And the epic music from Michael McCann is back!!!!! One of the best soundtracks of all time! Now I'm pumped as hell, hope Square Enix releases a gameplay walkthrough at E3 2015 - plus new CG trailer.
PS. To the Gamersyde staff, can you guys please ask Square Enix if they can send you DE:MD's CG trailer in English? Thank you in advance.
In the Deus Ex games, in the future people have the option to enhance their bodies with mechanical augmentations - like replacing their arms so they become stronger, their legs so they run faster or their eyes so they can see things like a camera (body heat, electrical lines, through walls and etc), for example.
But since the world isn't perfect, a lot of people rejected this new type of technology and even revolted against it - you can think of it like how a lot of people hate and protest against stem cell research in real life, so there was a lot of tension between people who use or are in favour of augments and those who oppose it.
To complicate matters even more, during Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a member of a group called Illuminati (the antagonists) made a biochip in the augments to cause strong hallucinations on the people using them, driving the user mad and, consequently, leading to violent acts and even murders.
This affected almost everyone with augments and made society even more afraid and hateful of augments and people with them. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided starts 2 years after this incident, and as you can guess, the subtitle refers to how now mankind is divided between 2 groups: complete (100%) normal people and people with augments - kind of like X-Men's mutants and normal people.
Adam Jensen, the main protagonist of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, has super augmentations (of the military and high-end kind) - though he received them because it was the only way to save his life - and now fights against Illuminati, augmented terrorists and criminals.
As for the trailer, it starts with Adam Jensen drifting in the ocean - most likely after an explosion - and having some flashbacks, which starts with him searching and running after someone, then it cuts to the remains of an explosion, then to an augmented person being beaten and asking for help, which Adam Jensen saves - all the while in the background, you can hear a reporter talking about increasing acts of terrorism being committed by people with augments.
Afterwards, you hear Adam Jensen talking about the Illuminati, then it cuts to a terrorist leader - his image was shown in the news report - talking about taking action against ignorant and fearful people who are trying to take the rights of augmented people, locking them away and etc.
In here, Adam Jensen sees the person he saved from the beating alongside the terrorist leader, then it cuts back to Adam Jensen running and trying to catch the person he saved from the beating, who has now become a suicide-bomber and explodes a bomb in the street. Then it shows the after effects of the bombing and Adam Jensen fighting against the terrorists. It ends with Adam Jensen being found for rescue while drifting in the sea, and saying: "I won't let it happen again".
It's really interesting how the trailer shows how the person being beaten ends up becoming a suicide-bomber killing a lot of other people, and how the person Adam Jensen saved ends up becoming exactly what he is trying to fight against. Much like hate only breeds more hate, and no good deed goes unpunished, respectively
I really recommend you play Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it's a great game with a great story, great gameplay, one of the best soundtracks of all time and the best, IMHO, atmosphere immersion of a game.
The best way to describe it is that it feels like I was there, like I traveled to that place in real life and everything I remember about that place feels just like memories that I have from other places I went to in real life. Epic stuff!!!
