Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

If you have not yet succumbed to buying the latest title from Codemasters, here are some new videos of DiRT 3 captured from the PC version using Fraps. Like the ones from Driftwood, they are in 1080p and 60 frames per second, ultra settings. On the menu : four races and their replay, focusing on weather effects, rain, snow, night, and Gymkhana, all played with a G27, without any assist.

Recommended settings were a bunch of crap, runs beautifully @ ultra on my laptop :)

Also, no idea why you guys are using a G27. Using a steering wheel of that caliber with this game is like using precious silver cutlery to eat cheerios. Arcade physics are arcadey.

Oddly enough Daytona USA and Sega Rally were great arcade games that were played with a wheel. Maybe you're too young to know that or you simply don't realize that a racing game does not necessarily need to be boring (so basically sims like Forza and GT) to be played with a driving wheel. :)

Implying they were played in arcades with a wheel comparable to a G27 steering wheel ;) Also implying that real life racing (with a fan-base of millions upon millions) is boring, since you interpret racing simulators as boring :P It's just preference, my friend.

It's more like using carbon fiber cutlery to eat the best cereal ever: Old formula Apple Jacks. Also, this game is great at immersion, and technical enough to work well with a driving wheel. But yeah, you are right, they should have gone out and purchased a cheap racing wheel to play this with... /sarcasm.

Also, thank you for putting up this stuff, been wanting to see this, not just console graphics.

Well that's precisely what I wanted you to say. It's all about preferences. So I don't see why playing Dirt 3 with a G27 would be stupid. ;)

We're on the same page, then :) just because the game doesn't fully take advantage of it and you would've extracted a remarkably similar experience from the game with a wheel costing hundreds of dollars less ;) Basically, don't buy a G27 for a game like this, buy one for a simulator without permanent driving assists if you're after an immersive driving experience (if you're in the market for a G27, that's probably what you're after)

Dirt 3 plays extremely well with a G27 or the Fanatec wheel, I can assure you that it is worth it. Plus, we do not only use our wheels to play Dirt 3 you know. :)

hang on there, using a G27 wheel is enough to start a debate, hows about a little consideration here.

im fairly sure dirt 3 isnt the only game driftwood has used/bought the steering wheel for, i meen just look back to when GT5 came out, the G27 is ps3 compatable is it not so insinuating some one will buy a G27 just for 1 racing game is going a little too far wouldnt you say.

i have a driving force GT wheel that i bought specificly for GT5 however as its also PC compatable i can configure it to play games like this also, just one racing/driving game i did experience problems with "TDU2" for some weird reason the dead zone was huge and made the game unplayable with the wheel though i didnt/couldnt be bothered to tinker with the settings.

just 1 thing id like to know about the pc version, as with the consoles is there a code required for online play.

Only thing that really annoyed me in this game is that stupid amigo dude. Seriously it's not awesome to get gold if I was couple points away from platinum..

Otherwise I really like the game. Those Gymkhana events are surprisingly fun.

With the new AMD drivers, I'm getting 60fps EVEN with Fraps recording @ 60fps, with all settings maxed out including 8xAA. Amazing.

For me the game run a lot worse than Dirt 2. Still around 40-60fps but that's with 40-50% GPU usage. I have no idea why this game would need better CPU than Dirt 2.

I've been eying the driving force gt because of the price.. seems like the most wheel you can get under $100.

deadzone with the G27 is pretty HUGE in this game. you have to turn the wheel about 30degree's from the center before the in-game wheel even registers the movement, yet the required turning input to do most corners is barely 90degree's, that leaves only 60degrees of usable movement on either side with a massive 6 degree's of deadzone between them. feels weird as hell imo and i just couldn't get used to it... still yet to find a game that uses the wheel better then GT5, that game just worked perfectly with it.
