Codemasters has announced that DiRT 3 will release worldwide on May 24. Two new screens below.

DiRT 3 will boast more cars, more locations, more routes and more events than any other game in the series, including over 50 rally cars representing the very best from five decades of the sport. With more than double the track content of 2009’s hit, DiRT 3 will see players start at the top as a professional driver, with a top-flight career in competitive off-road racing complimented by the opportunity to express themselves in Gymkhana-style showpiece driving events.

Its not looking too hot visually, at least from these shots. Its hard to get excited over this game. I used to love the Rallisport Challenge series on the Xbox and wish they wouldve released a sequel for the 360, but understand that these games generally only sell to a small portion of their user base. So the risk may not be worth the reward.

I own Dirt 2 and have played a little and liked it, but it still doesnt have the feel that I enjoyed so much from Rallisport Challenge. I cant really pinpoint why either, just doesnt feel the same.

It looks nice in motion, but there are inconsistencies which let it down a bit; ropey foliage, straight-edged boulders, and it all looks a bit, err, mushy?

Will be getting it anyway (love Rally games!)

It looks nice in motion? That's probably the point with a racing game...
I don't know if you guys played dirt 2 but I fired it up yesterday on my pc and it looks ff'ing amazing...

And this will probably look even better than 2.

Will probably pick this up during the winter Steam sale...I bought the entire Codemasters racing pack (all of their racing games released this gen) for like $10...haven't installed a single of them yet though ~_~

I did play Grid back in 2008 and was impressed with the graphics

Perhaps in art style, but in the technically I don't see how you could really fault those shots much in comparison with other racers.

Did I miss something? Why the talk of Dice and Rallysport Challenge? Is this Dirt being developed by a different team than the one that made the first two Dirt games?

Dirt 1 and 2 feels different from the Rallisport Challenge games because they are made by a different studio and published by a different publisher. The two series have nothing in common development wise.

Dice is now owned by EA and will most likely not return to Rallisport Challenge as it was published by Microsoft on the original xBox. I guess MS still holds the right to the Rallisport Challenge name.

Back then Dice was an independent studio who did Rallisport on a publishing contract.

Buuut dirt2 looked great allready so things can only look better.
