Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

While we are still trying to get a proper version of the latest video of DiRT 3, we suggest you take a look at this rather old replay footage we oddly forgot to talk about when it first appeared on the Interneta few weeks ago. We know this is old news but until we manage to find the new gym-khana video, that's all we have in store for you guys.

love Dirt 1 and 2 and this looks like more of the same and better! cant wait

i wouldnt mind if the graphics were same as dirt 2 as imo it is the best looking racer this gen. it may not have the highest textures or whatever but overall it looks magnificent.

Damn, that looked gorgeous! Can't wait to give it a go with the increased focus on rally events. I hope they have good support for the GT wheel.

On a side note, has anyone played the original DIRT with the driving force gt? If so, how does it play? After playing some rally events in GT5, I really have a craving to play a rally game. I figure I can get DIRT 1 for dirt cheap (I enjoyed DIRT 1 much better than 2 for some reason).

Wow looks good. Obviously very spoilt with Gran Turismo 5 in the visuals and physics department however despite that this looks great so far.

Dirt 3 will kill GT5 in the graphics AND physics departments (at least in the rally events). The rally events in GT5 have terrible looking environments with whole mountain ranges popping into view, and terrible low res textures on everything. Also, the physics are pretty weak as well. Hitting a small cloth rope shouldn't stop your car cold. Everything including the environments, damage, physics, to the sound is better in DIRT. GT5 only has the edge in realistic weight-power-traction, although I expect DIRT3 to improve in this area after all the complaints from the first 2 games.

Only in the rally stages and with that said Dirt 3 will nowhere near match GT5 in the LOD of the rally cars. Nowhere near if we are to judge from this video. From that comment (sound, physics complaints) I severely doubt you have ever played GT5. As soon as the car hits the tarmac (note - not gravel) GT5 is hugely more realistic than Dirt. If you're up for an all out gravel and rally game then Dirt 3 is what you need - it's focused on rallying. However if you want a realistic driving game then GT5 is what you need. Personally I feel rallying is only a tiny fraction of driving and so GT5 is the way forward, but there's something for everyone :)

Keep the GT5 stuff in the appropriate thread, please.

We don't need to muck this one up too.

ahhhh, traditional rally stages. you've been away far too long.

show some of the weather effects from the cockpit view (i want rain and snow plz) and it could sell it to me

oh, and most importantly, it needs to feel like you're driving a car, not riding an office chair.

LOL, I made that statement BECAUSE I have spent the last few weeks playing nothing BUT GT5. Also, if you read my comment, I clearly stated "in the rally events". The premium rally cars in GT5 look damn fine, but everything else, (courses included) look terrible even compared to DIRT1. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely love GT5 (I wouldn't have spent weeks playing it if I didn't like it). I was just making the point that if you want a good rally game, GT5 is not it. The tracks are way too wide, the physics are way off, and the graphics are quite bad compared to DIRT (particles, damage effects, environment interaction, backgrounds, non-premium cars, the "dynamic" weather and time of day that clicks into place in a jarring way, etc, etc.). (I will make the exception for Eigr Nordwand rally track, it looks damn nice).

So to reiterate: play GT5 for an amazing all around racer, play DIRT3 for (hopefully) a very good rally specific racer (if they manage to fix the sense of weight/pivot point for the cars). See, we agree after all....
