The third (and last) game I got to film at the Xbox 360 showroom was Dead or Alive 4. This will be a three part video, presenting all the characters and levels available in this version of the game. The first part is available now, with the character selection screen, the level selection and then the first fight.
Update 2 : A version with much better colors is now online.

but aimed at japan market i suppose and they love this silly game
give me street fighter championship edition on the sega megadrive anyday
I think DOA 4 looks fantastic.
Why don't you go play Street Fighter on Mega Drive then since it's already available and stop downplaying DOA and the Japanese.

and as for DOA, it looks amazing!!! you must remember that this game has a art style, and changing the gameplay will make millions of fans VERY VERY MAD.... but itagaki says this is the last DOA to play like this tho...
DOA has sold alot more outside of Japan!!! dont forget it is one selling xbox games in the world... so its not just the japanese... just go on DOAU on live... and try to find a couple.. its mostly frenchmen and americanos
Also rustykaks you must not know that much about Dead or Alive since you said this game is “aimed at the Japan market”. That is not true at all; everyone that bought DOA3 was from the US or Europe.
This is the game they wanted to make, this is the way they wanted it to look, this is what we get.
This is the game. This is DOA4. Team Ninja is not a slouch.
Theoretically, Microsoft could have given us a system with 50 times the power of Xbox360... doesn't mean every game needs to use all that power and utilize every god forsaken graphical feature the system has to offer. Some games are trying to push the system, others are trying to give us something else.
There's such a thing called "style".
The Xbox360 is like a canvas to make what you want.
Would you like Mario to tote a toolbox and be modelled, lit, and normal mapped to look like a "real-life" plumber? (shoot maybe even give him real life activities, like having to fix a freaking sink)
No because that would ruin the World of Mario.
It's really quite simple.
And DOA4 is quite beautiful.
I could go on and on... but I'll stop because I don't like typing, or thinking.
We'll see what else Team Ninja have in store for us in the future.
(I know there are a few games on their schedule)

IMO this is the first true next gen since the Dreamcast. DC was the start of the current gen. Now that the true next gen has arrived, why is Team Ninja not doing more tho make this game at least LOOK special. They are the biggest graphic whore developer ever. I guess I simply expected more from them. Let me put it this way, if they released these vids and said it was for Xbox, I would not be shocked in the slightest. Just based on the vids released mind you. In my living room on my 48 inch HDTV, it might be another story...but at any rate, they should have done more than just make it 720p with what looks like the exact same character models. JMO
I'm asking some significant questions here.
(emphasise on keeping your cool)
Look at Mario for instance. The CG art of Mario a long time ago is still what the model of mario is shooting for. Sure he's more defined now with better textures and all that, but he's still essentially the same. The same goes for Sonic and the like aswell. Now, Sonic didn't have a "true" Xbox iteration, and barely even a Playstation 2 one because the engine was obviously essentially the same as on dreamcast. If that had been the case, if there was a sonic game created specifically for Xbox then this 360/PS3 version of the character model would be even closer to the current one than it is right now, and some people imply that it hasn't changed from SA2 (! They're clearly insane and all that.)
My point is that some stuff looks a certain way in the head of the artist, and if you reach that, if you actually achieve that exact (or close) image, then what? It's been said countless times that DoA isn't shooting for realistic, it's psuedo-anime, and putting more texture on the characters would be moving away from that.
I don't want to end on that note though, because then it'd just be the same statement again. Instead I pose the question; what can you do when you've already reached the creative vision in terms of visuals? I think we just need to realise that new hardware won't blow us away visually anymore. It'll make standard of the highlights in graphics this generation (every game looks at least like Chaos Theory and Doom, basically :)) and the generation after this, I don't think the developers will know what to do with all the power in the "limited timespan" of like.. 3 years or whatever it'll take to make a game then.
Edit: "Also, I heard this game can not even be properly captured on video" <- just wanted to add to that; that's true of every 360 game. People won't know how insanely sexy these games look until they're displayed on their tellies at home, and comments like "doom 3 looks better than this!" regarding PDZ will be laughable. (to some of us it already is) :)

n.
1. All of the offspring that are at the same stage of descent from a common ancestor: Mother and daughters represent two generations.
2. A stage or period of sequential technological development and innovation.
3. A class of objects derived from a preceding class: a new generation of computers.
According to these definitions, a sequel with "improvements" is a new generation. So technically DOA4 is the next-generation of the DOA franchise. But not necessarily a next-generation game, which depends on whoever looks at it. But if you say this game is not next-gen, it also means that NONE of the EA titles are next-gen. Bottom line is, I'd much rather buy DOA4 than Need for Speed Most Wanted, Madden 06, Live 06, TW: PGA Tour 06, FIFA 06 or any EA games at launch. I'll wait for next year's version, or the next.
Not that it means I'll buy DOA4, which I won't.
