Today, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is getting a new VIP map pack containing the Arica Harbor Conquest mode and the Laguna Presa Rush mode. The good news is that they will be no extra cost provided you used the VIP pass offered with the game. More details in the trailer inside.

Improvements to a game are fine, and adding modes to existing maps to allow a hint of freshness to the games also fine. Promoting it as free content (free map packs no less) when it's not technically dlc (as you've not downloaded anything), so naive kiddies can commend EA on their supporting their games with "free" stuff - when A)it's NOT free. B) they've simply unlocked what should of been unlocked from the start.. is what i disagree with.

When in reality what they've done is locked content day1 that they charged you for (the maps are on the disc there for part of the £40 price tag)..simply because it didnt benefit them giving us access to what we paid for day 1.
Lets not forget that they also value that content at an extra £10.
I think more people should be questioning it..maybe then when they tell us they'll support bbc3 with free dlc it may actually be free dlc
One things for certain.. YOU bitching about bitching will progress nothing. Which is all the more silly when you dont even agree with the practice yourself
One thing is for certain, we're all bitches.
Lone voices on scattered forums never make a difference with bitching. But if official forums are filled, or better..if one of these games reviewers that get access to these people question them on just what is the value to the gamer with "dlc" supported like this, then maybe changes will be made.
The next call of duty is getting pc dedicated servers. The next game by the bayonetta peeps is having the ps3 as the lead platform. Games get patched all the time ect - all through bitching
I strongly disagree with this being "free", it's not. One of my friends foolishly bought a used copy and doesn't have access to the maps at all, can't even buy VIP access. Now every time I'm playing with him and Laguna Alta turns up he gets booted, and now I can't play Arica Harbour with him. The funny fact is that all these maps are happily sitting on his disc, yet he has no access to the content he already bought.

Anyways, you did say foolishly. Well knowing that EA has implemented this for a few games now. It's not something that really affects me because I buy all my games new, at least for the PC.
And i dont think anybodys unhappy to have more variety unlocked... i just don't think many were pleased to have more variety locked in the first place
