i cant watch on youtube (have to stop multiple times )
The graphics look really bad as well. Cameron Monaghan's and Forest Whitaker's characters look really bad, but the worst of them all was the wookie trapped in the cell, it was so bad that it looked like a PS2 model, the fur's hair didn't even animate and seemed like they were glued to each other.
At least the combat looks decent enough with some depth to it, though the lack of challenge made the game seem too easy, still the dodges and some of the powers were very cool. I hope the developers find a way to integrate more powers against non Human enemies, seemed like the character didn't have many options while dealing with those giant spiders.
A cool idea that immediately popped in my head was that it would be great if he could use his power to make the webbing that the giant spiders shoot go back at them, then he could go and either deal a lot of damage, or that could open them up for a finisher. They kinda did this in a later sequence with slowing time and holding a stormtrooper in front of his own shot, which was very cool. Things like these and how much you will be able to mess with enemies and the environment with his powers is what will make or break this game imho.
Some thoughts:
-The wookies look HORRIFYING. Like, seriously, what the fuck happened there??
-More lightsaber combat with enemy health bars. Yeah, that makes sense...
-Since when do Jedi double jump? They just do single super leaps and have in previous games.
-Is it just me, or is this voice actor just BAD? He sounds like some super whiny punk kid.
-Speaking of him being a punk kid, he was a Jedi padawan. Why does this game just have him running into fights mowing people down? The game should allow alternate methods of tackling scenarios. Maybe it was just this stretch since he was helping assault an Emperial takeover, but damn. I hope they allow the true nature of Jedi to be explored in this game.
-And finally, there was just an overall kinda layer of jank to the presentation. Such as the aforementioned horrendous looking wookies, the very soft looking faces (probably a result of their performance capture technique), the way loose clothing "settles" after every camera cut, some not super smooth animation blending between attacks and stances.
Overall it just doesn't look like a game that was the best of multiple Single Player options. If this WAS the best that EA had cooking from the multiple studios that they had working on Star Wars SP experiences, then Lucasfilm needs to remove those rights from EA IMMEDIATELY...
A corridor of plants attached to a corridor of metal...seriously. What year is it again? Even uncharted isn't designed like that anymore lol.
The fact they shit canned 1313 and a game written by the uncharted writer...yet gave THIS a green light is bewildering. They talk about how it's inspired by metroid and there will be metroidvania aspects of returning to planets to explore further with new abilities...but non of that is evident in this gameplay which is apparently from 3 hours in.
It's either a super flat and boring demo and the game itself is going to be amazing. OR this is the best vertical slice they could think of showing and is entirely representative of what we're going to get...in which case god help us. Lol.
It screams "7 hour completion time" too.
I'm hoping it's good because it's been way too long since we've had a good star wars game. But I'm not holding my breath.
