The day Guerrilla Games showed their new title for the first time, I knew this was exactly my taste, from the sci-fi/post apocalyptic-background to the lush landscape to the role playing elements. Graphically it competes with the Witcher (at least on consoles) and I guess until release Guerilla can handle those close level-of-detail pop-ins. A system seller.

You can really tell how inspired Guerrilla was by The Witcher 3 (also, if i recall correctly, the lead quest designer from TW3 is working on this game)

I don't think this has anything to do with The Witcher at all. We have seen all these things before. Beautiful scenery, cyber creatures......it's more like Enslaved...

this just laid the remaining worries i had to rest. it looks legit. witcher 3 meets dino-bots. the combat looks fun, and with plenty of depth to take down enemies. the world seems beautiful and vast. i'm excited for this.

Open world, 3rd person, dialogue trees, same quest designer.... I mean, it has some similarities.

Enslaved isn't open world, and its a coop shooter/brawler/platformer... this is nothing like Enslaved.

I meant it like....we have seen this all before. Don't make a Witcher something, what all others are trying to copy.

Looks very good, too good in fact. And I also felt that "Witcher" vibe... can't put my finger on it...

But no aliasing - are we seeing a NEO-demo here? Days Gone also seemed very NEO-ish to me...

Game looks great but I have to say the art direction is bad. 1991 straight to video sci fi. It distracts me from what great gameplay is on display. If only they could have switched it out for a Princess Mononoke game.

There are studios using really effective custom antialiasing techniques nowadays. For example look at Uncharted 4, that game had almost zero aliasing.

yeah but Uncharted 4's AA is also blurry and and undermines the image quality (there are gorgeous exceptions desert level). I prefer the sharpness of this game don't change it Guerilla.

The more I see this game the more I remember how cool Killzone 1&2 were and then I start to really believe in this game.

not really. it's regarded as having some of the best AA solution on consoles. full coverage without the loss of sharpness or detail.

Is U4's AA what causes everybody to have blur halo's around their heads especially noticeable during cutscenes? Just odd blobs around the hair / head.

I don't think so. It's the AA.
Uncharted 4 delivers the best image quality we've seen in a console game to date. Even in the face of rare titles like Tearaway Unfolded, with its high quality MSAA settings, Uncharted 4 stands tall. Naughty Dog has developed a temporal anti-aliasing technique that delivers results that sometimes manage to approach the quality of a super-sampled image. Thin edges are remarkably clean, shader aliasing is almost non-existent, and shimmering is all but eliminated. Large, complex fields of detailed foliage remain razor sharp even at a distance while finer details on Nate's weapons remain clearly visible. We noted similarities to the hybrid-reconstruction anti-aliasing used in Far Cry 4 but we cannot say for sure how this was achieved. Perhaps Naughty Dog will share more information on this in the future, as the results are stunning and this technique could benefit console games as a whole.

That's what DF had to say about the AA solution. The motion blur however is low-ish sample compared to say...doom. Plus DOF and alphas (hair) don't play nice.

I'm glad that Sony give them a chance in creating a new IP. Guerrilla can finally prove that are talented team. So far it looks even better than what i expected.

Hopefully Killzone is completely killed franchise now. They tried so many times with it, and it wasn't their thing. An fps failure i would call it.

Killzone has like a 60 degree FOV (if that) to save on performance :P

I also think these screenshots are BS image quality. Standard practice.
