Video PS3

DjMizuhara is still far from done with his videos from E3, and it's MAG who kickstarts the day.

Absolutely, a touch of Halo 3(which was an upped Halo 2 engine, thats all). but Halo 3 visuals with 256 players...thats hot!

visuals are nice for the 256 players limit, but it looks suprisingly sparse player wise, yeah I know it's split into 4 sections kind off but then that kinda destroys the effect 256 players is meant to give. Bet trying to take the final place though is pretty epic.

256 players seems a bit overkill. People already have trouble playing as a team with just 20 players! The level and feeling reminds me of Counter-Strike:Source, the gameplay however does not. Will be interessting to see how, and if, this pans out.

@ Rustykaks, they did indeed have 256 player matches set up at E3, testers at Santa Monica and Zipper were involved over the 3 days of E3. And from what I played no lag what so ever. Amazing piece of tech for a console shooter.

Says great things about Halo then doesn't it? And this is a 256 player online FPS! heh!

Can't wait for this, reminded me slightly of FFOW which i loved (on the PC mind you!).

they did say though,u will never see all people as the game is set in groups, that pretty much play away from the rest,
graphics are bad i think, would rather have 10vs10 or 15vs15 than this way to many

im in uk and i know its gonna be
about 70 from uk
150 from america
and about 30 from mexico or something to make it the biggest lag fest ever.

U should be able to lock online games to your region and unless your IP from that region u cant enter it,this world playing each other is bullshit, internet is too slow to do that even in 2009

The concept of having so many players in a match is amazing, but the gameplay doesn't look particularly exciting here. It's also hard enough getting six players to co-ordinate as a team, let alone this many. Perhaps thats why it's seperated into squads of eight, but still.. FPS' aren't exactly known for their mature communities.

But that's part of the reason I love games like Halo, you never know what you're going to see. It should be amusing, if nothing else.. Can't wait to see a 128 man a side capture the flag match.

Not Quite sure why you think HALO3 has excellent texture quality?

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/734817/halo-...

That's one of the better ones.

You know, if you just don't like anything PS3 has to offer, fair enough. Just be honest.

I don't like the 360, Not really because of the games, reason i never bought one was because of the shoddy hardware design. And i'm not a halo nut.

But i think gears is a pretty good game and a few others.

Seriously, the fanboyism has really increased on this site since E3 - from both Sony and Microsoft 'fans'.

I think the graphics for this game are actually decent in their own right, so they're even more impressive given the amount of players. It's just a shame that, judging from this video, MAG's gameplay is extremely mediocre. It's all well and good having all those players online, but when the game itself isn't interesting at all to play - which it looks like it isn't - the whole thing becomes void.

After all, more doesn't necessarily mean better.

Aye Blm' it's getting a little ott on here.

I'd like to see it a little more hectic, I want to feel like part of a large army... see 50 soldiers storming a chokepoint etc...

As a Sony fan (just to get that straight) I am not very interested in this, I think the number of players is overkill and the visuals and gameplay are both pretty dull looking at this point.

Not on my most wanted list at this point but if the gameplay turns out to be highly compelling I might look past the visuals.

Why why the hell does sony do this with their games, i hate the broken up squads why have 256 players if your going to segment them off into pieces so you never realy feel like your involved with 256 active players i mean really its pointless mise as wel have 4 seperate 64 player matches

Greatly in depth and has the best bits of every online game ever released and 256 players + epic scale to boost!

What's not to love!

Here is what blows my mind. How could anyone be a microsoft or Sony "fan"????
Why on earth do these kids support some corporate mechanism? I can see supporting a developer maybe, but an entire system?!

How can these kids not realize how childish and insane that sound to a normal adult?

Anyhow, I think the game looks pretty cool. 256 players could be really cool or a mess depending on map design, but from the gameplay shown at E3, I'm willing to say it won't be an amazing game, but it will still be a pretty fun distraction, like a Battlefield game for example. Not as good as a CoD game, but fun when you get bored of playing CoD too much.

I'm glad to see Sony getting more quality shooters on the market. More competition the better!

only mmo's benefit from so many players. You're likely to see more action in a game like Gears of war which is 4-4, or COD which is 32, than something with 200-300 players... simply because the maps have to be designed to hold all those players.. so its not like you'll ever be facing up against 150men around the next corner.

Joint ops that is over 5yrs ago on the pc was 300 player..and looked impressive for it, far more so than mags visuals to be honest. You ended up traveling for several minutes across the map before you saw anybody.. and when you did see them they were naturally just little groups.. which kind of makes it abit redundent.. especially when you know the visual downgrade is there to hold all those people.

On-line with that many players comes entirely down to map design. Can they design maps which organically create massive battles worthy of such a high player count? Or will we see the problem described by bleechedsmiles? The only way to coordinate that many people that quickly is if it is natural and emergent, rather than relying on some externally imposed structure or hierarchy.
