I couldn't agree more. Nice graphics, good carhandling all good but what I'm missing is real damage. I heard there is damage in the rally stages but not when you're racing with the AMG etc. They claim to be the most realistic game ever, well I'm not sure if you're realistic when you have a car driving at 70mph into a wall and just driving away unharmed or anything.

All is great, but in my opinion they should have sacrificed 30 frames for even more dynamic environment (like wind efect on trees or some leaves and dust on the ground). Yuo realy don't need 60 fps it looks too smooth. Our eyes see 24 or above frames in a sec. without glitches so why bother adding more. 30 fps is enough. They could make it 100 frames but what's the point?

And you think Gt Physics will change that... better go play Burnout.

@nakajima: why the hell do you keep posting that gifs thread after thread if they are all footage here on gamersyde? Some fanboys really are something else.

GT5 is looking stunning in the graphics department, and after hearing that they are working hard on the collision physics (no more AI fucking up the last lap) I think PD are gonna deliver a masterpiece. Their attention to detial is second to none and there is no such thing as too many AAA sim racers on the market.

Nov 2nd is gonna be great.

Because there are a lot of Sim fanatics who play PC sim at 100FPS and want GT5 to be at least 60 fps so they can have better animation and response...

I'd say make it 720p, not 1080p to add more things. Less important imo

Yeah, 60fps is a MUST for any sim racer. If someone honestly thinks 30fps w/ added graphical bells and whistles is more important that precision gameplay then they are playing the wrong style of racing game.

Physics are easily the most important aspect of any racing game of this type. Graphics etc are a distant second IMO.

Thank you for your answers :) gents. Anyway like Sto said 720p would be enough. Tracks are too static and car crash is funny. Like a plastic box bouncing of the walls. Don't get angry on me i'm just saying my opinion.

This human eye can see 24frames BS is such a joke, It only means we can start to make out an object as in continuous motion at 24frames or higher. There is a HUGE difference between 24fps and 60fps

This game looks absolutely stunning. And the physics look so much better. It's gonna be every car nut and sim racer's wet dream.

By the way; our eyes see a lot more than 24 fps lol. We need a minimum of 24 fps in order for our brain to experience something as smooth (motion). And even that is debatable, because many people would consider sub 30 fps not that smooth. But I digress.

Can't wait for GT5. 1080p 60 fps sim racing will melt my eyeballs.

It's a legal issue in regards to the car damage. Car manufacturers wont allow you to show cars being destroyed unless its a non-realistic arcade game. Only minor cosmetic damage is allowed, very much like Forza 3.

car moves like a boat and hoodcam is higher than the other cars and barriers on the track. Good thing they had so many years to finetune it! :P

the game went from having quite possibly the worst looking smoke in a racer to some of the best. the way the rear lights illuminate the smoke is pretty damn impressive. as is the whole game. a visual marvel tbh. as far as photorealism goes. this is the closes thing to it. not quite there, but so very close.

Just to weigh in on the whole FPS debate, Doug Trumbull the pioneering VFX genius of such movies as Blade Runner conducted many graphics experiments with framerates and concluded that 60 fps is actually the optimal framerate for the human eye.

It's a strange phenomenon but when it comes to computer graphics as opposed to movie visuals, the difference between 30 and 60 FPS is actually quite noticeable and for racing games requiring split second reaction time for precise inputs, 60 FPS is the benchmark (no need to ever go higher than that number PC elitists). I am not surprised that a completionist/ perfectionist nut like Yamauchi is determined not to slip below this optimal number.

Game looks amazing, November seems way too far off at this point....

I was aware of that but still, stuff like this should be possible if you want to create a simulator.

The key to having fun in these games is found in the immersion factor, Forza failed because graphically it couldn't deliver the beauty and visceral experience of racing and this is GT5's greatest strength also Forza's attempt to cater to the casual side removed most of the achievement factor.

The car physic looks so stupid ... They do invest so much work in this game - but they do not seem to be making the most important part right.

Well, the manufacturers are to blame, not Polyphony. Unfortunately they don't want people seeing how easy it is to smash up their cars.
