Video PS3

David Cage, boss of Quantic Dream, came in person to unveil a brand new sequence of Heavy Rain, which takes place in the second third of the adventure. We meet - again - with Madison, the pretty girl-cop we first saw barely escaping the grasp of a serial killer in the taxidermist scene, now on a mission in a crowded nightclub. In an attempt to approach the owner, the young lady has to fix her truck driver look to something a tad more feminine. Surprise, it is you, the player, that's in charge of blushing her cheeks in the ladies room...

Lipstick? Eyeliner? Seriously?

Honestly. The more I see of this game, the more dull it looks.

I have to agree, it seems to be less and less of a game and more and more of one of those interactive movies. I remember playin one on my first pc in like 96 or so, basic interaction in different places drove the action exactly like this.

Well maybe so, but we shouldnt judge it just yet. Im sure there will be a few surprises in there....I do understand how this could be a mess in the end, gestures interface in other games kinda pissed me off especially when the balance with timing was all wrong. lets hope this doesnt happen because it sure is beautiful to look at overall.

Was the only reason you were looking forward to this the graphics? Fahrenheit was more of an interactive movie than a game as well, but it was still great, which is why so many have been anticipating this.

Heavy Rain is a game that involves serial killers, murders, guns, fights, investigation etc. I think it's cool to have scenes like this in a game that will mainly feature big talk, violence and film policier clichés.

And concerning the QTEs, you'll really have to try it yourself before saying it sucks. It's leaps and bounds above Indigo Prophecy. I haven't played this scene but the other one, with the big black guy in the garage, and as much as I dislike the dialogues and facial animations, the QTE/fights moments are insanely intense and fun to play.

I agree with others, the more I see the less impressed. I think story telling wise and atmosphere this game cracks it, but just like Fahrenheit gameplay wise it's gonna be nothing more than QTE's and random acts of moving your character around to the next cut scene.

Finally, a game where I get to apply lipstick!

In all seriousness though, I do "get" the appeal of this as I enjoyed Indigo Prophecy (the bit I played) but this time around I'm expecting a bit more. So far it's looking intriguing, but nothing mindblowing. Perhaps you have to be "in" the game to really "get it".

Will keep a close eye on this one for sure.

(PS, am I the only one that thinks she looks creepy as hell?!)

Thanks for the insight. Glad to hear that it's easy enough to get into the QTEs and enjoy them, because that was kinda a fear of mine (same with many people)

Looking forward to the game :)

They censored Indigo Prophecy's sex scene for us sexually repressed Americans, and I won't be surprised if the same happens here.

Like littlebigplanet, this is not the game for everyone. If you don't like Fahrenheit, you probably won't enjoy this neither. I am sure it won't sell as well as those FPSs.
I am just glad we still have developers who have the guts to make this sorts of games in this revenue driven industry.

that was lame of them. It's pretty well know if Americans don't get enough sex, they end up bombing other countries.

As fun to play as having the freedom to take him out as you wish? The outcome of that fights always the same isnt it? leaving you to either die there.. or get knocked out to die in the next scene?

How was the frame rate holding? on the footage they released of that scene you played it dipped quite a few times.

I don't know man, maybe I just have to get used to it...but so far I'm not liking it. I think it's mainly the sterile look and "in your face" advertisement.

That's just my opinion though, so don't take it the wrong way. I'm sure I'll get used to it. I generally just don't really like 'change' either I suppose...
Her body is a knocker, but her face... tranny surprise with extra make-up to hide the manly features.

Gotta say, the game is probably one of the best in term of closed enviremonts detail, but god gawd, if that hit-detection on the make-up mini-games goes way back, like shenmue quality.

With all the respect going to developers of this game...isn't it obvious? She looks like a damn robogirl with this strange stoned look of hers. Her eyes fixed in place no matter where she looks. Fix the damn thing. If you're going for the realism, the last thing you want is you character to look like a stupid robot.

For anyone who thinks this will be a bunch of QTEs and nothing more, just shut up and go play Indigo Prophecy. You're making your ignorance stand out by saying stuff like that.
