Snoopers just uploaded this gameplay video of Need for Speed: Shift, showing a game looking as good as expected. The end of 2009 is going to be great for racers!
I've never been much into driving games but I'll probably give at least one a go in the next 12 months. Kinda miss my 360 because Forza's looking awesome but then so is GT5. Not to mention this and Dirt2, exciting times ahead!
last year was rubbish for racing. so much so i actually bought PGR3 as i missed out on it first time around! but this and Forza look great. still have not seen any outside views tho.
I dont see how this game can break through with Forza 3 being released this fall too....
Yeah the NFS series is more on the arcade side, but this is probably the least arcade game so far. And i still dont trust NFS, every single game has sucked in one way or another this generation.
the should of dropped the "need for speed" and just gone with "shift". The need for speed franchise is in such a state right now that its more likely to put people off this game than get them interested in it.
As a new direction though, this looks nice. And finally a NFS game with a solid frame rate

So true, this game is as much a Need for Speed game as is Dirt 2.

You say that, but it actually sells really well.
Not hardcore gamers (who have probably avoided the series for a while), but most casual game players still buy the series and amazingly look forward to it's sequels.
Personally, I'll be getting a demo of this before I think about buying it. I've almost gone off sim/realistic-looking track racers.
Yep yep true that. Same thing with all these movie-games like Eragon and pretty much every Pixar-movie-to-game. May not be highly regarded games in general, but they sure sell when parents buy a fun looking game for their kids, or when new gamers try to get into gaming =)
I guess they serve their purpose in a way. We all gotta start somewhere, i started with Mario Kart and Rock n Roll Racing :P

Well it certainly looks good I'll give it that. To me the handling looks PGR-ish which isn't bad, and they did a good job with the modeling inside and out of the cars and the sounds as well(I just love to hear that whine coming from the gearbox).
And I know I'm nit-picking but a message to the driver. Learn racing lines.
Looks a lot like a PGR game, which is high praise in my book. Lets hope it plays like a PGR game and I will be VERY happy. This and Dirt 2 will be my arcade fix while Forza 3 and GT5 will keep my sim lust happy as well. Love what I'm seeing this year!
Seriously though, the game actually looks really good...but still...I..must...resist...temptation of getting excited for a NFS title...potential...major letdown...inbound!

LOL, I know the feeling. Being a Need for Speed fan is like being a Cubs fan, I always hope for such great things and always get let down. I'll go ahead and say it, this could be the year LOL.....
