I just watched most of the new trailers and they are all old videos as you said, and I had seen them all before. Especially the Fracture trailer is from ages past.
This just looks good, this is almost fully in-game. (at least in-engine)
And it's NOT boring, you just have to use your head!!
concerning the old ff system, ffxii is actually the hardest ff I would say if you take into account some of the optional bosses, the gameplay was a huge improvement
Its just boring, slow and the damn fight sequences take forever (especially with the corporeal move).
Eternal sonata also has a better art style with mroe attention to details.
anyway, im imressed with the trailer, being on the unreal engine i think its impressive how it looks silky and not dry and bumpy. perhaps square implemented some of their own technology into it. look at the scene where they show Rush looking out to the field, an impressive number of on screen characters there, and then the face close up looks very impressive, there's a smooth and silky look to the skin texture, his eyes look shiny and expressive, the lips look glossy too. the hair isnt stiff, looks like it has all the right articulation. so im impressed, and this is still very early footage, supposedly textures and models are at the 30% level, so the final game should look more impressive.

Trusty Bell has nice art direction but isn't as impressive graphically as Blue Dragon.
This game doesn't have much in common with either of those JRPG's, it looks like you fight on a real time battle feild with turn based attacks, graphics are very good considering the size of the battle area.
And yes, as Xion4360 has mentioned, the textures and models in the The Last Remnant trailer are only at 30%...the final game will look much more impressive.
Also, it sounds to me like Rush is voice by Johnny Yong Bosch (Nero in DMC4...and many other VG and anime characters) - that's cool! :D

As for Last Remnant, I think it looks pretty but with the ability to only play one character, this game is looking to me like its really just a shinier version of a dynasty warriors game minus the historical references.(yes, Im stretching it with historical references in DW games) Hopefully we will see a demo so I dont have to waste money like I did on FFXII(although I wasted money on that after having played the demo and hating it, guess that one was my fault) Square has made nothing but solid garbage lately, hopefully this will change my mind about them and get them back on the road to good titles. (Note im talking the square side of squareenix only, games like star ocean and dragon quest are still amazing.)
