Video PS4

To say that The Last of Us Part II is highly anticipated is quite an understatement, but judging from yesterday's video, it is well worth the wait. Be careful if you haven't seen it yet though, the level of violence shown here has reached new heights, especially with such image quality. For now, all we have is the 1080p version though.
Update: Added an image gallery.
Update 2: Watermark-free video added.

stunning. just showed it to everyone at work and they were equally blown away. easily my game of the show. i think if cyberpunk had shown gameplay footage that could have been it, but just being another trailer so long after it was first announced with a cgi trailer seems a bit of a missed opportunity.

Just watched it all the way through, and the graphics of the NPCs is incredible. Their facial expressions are particularly impressive.

I was kinda worried they would tone down the violence because of the reactions to the last trailer, so glad they didn't. Tlou is supposed to be brutal af. I understand if some people have a problem with the violence but maybe tlou just isn't for you then.
The transition from a nice quite moment and then going back to it at the end with ellie smiling was great. The new woman (Dina) is definitely gonna be a big part as to why ellie goes nuts and wants to kill this cult

Btw i think those transitions are actually in the game. Neil was saying that they are telling the story differently this time so im guessing that's what he meant

It was a simple setup demo too, just a section where shes being hunted with not much context. It reminds me of the first tlou demo where they wanted to show just core gameplay.

After watching this gameplay trailer, I'm starting to think that the girl in the previous trailer with the two asian kids was Ellie in the future and not her mum as I previously thought. I think this game may have lots of time skips in it.

I am so freaking excited for this game, it can't come soon enough. :)

Yeah, I think the cult finds out that they're gay, kills Ellie's girlfriend and then Ellie goes on a rampage. Hmmm I don't know, sounds too simple a plot.

Facial expressions are really nice. The actual in-game graphics may look a littel bit better than Crysis 3 or Ryse.
In terms of gameplay ? Let's not jump on the hypetrain and be honest here for a second: ND delivers nothing exciting. Same procedure as every ND game.
I mean... can they NOT bore me to death with their generic cover shooter + hide-and-seek BS ? zzzZZZzzzZZZ

couple things im still curious about. whats with the cult calling Ellie wolf? seems she's known by them at this point in the story. and whats with them disemboweling people? i assumed they were looking for those carrying children based on the last cinematic trailer. but they did the same thing to a guy in this footage too. maybe that's just the way they kill people and it's as simple as that?

as for who the woman was in that previous trailer...i guess it all depends on when it's set. but it's really hard to gauge. the cult has been established even at that point so it can't be immediately after the fungal infaction hit. and yet the way the kid in that trailer calls the clickers "demons" implies things are new and an established naming for these infected hasn't been made yet? they also seem to use bows which might mean it's WAY past the events of the first game and as resources have dwindled things have reverted to more tribalistic weaponry. i think you're right, i think i might actually be an older Ellie.

Looking at the visuals, especially the vegetation/trees you can't help but remember how Naughty Dog sold bullshots and bulltrailers over and over again and got away with it. Uncharted 4 reveal looked just as impressive and look where it ended up.
Or one can remember the staged TLOU trailer where Ellie and Joel engaged scavengers inside hotel in a very cinematic fashion but it all ended up being just a E3 build, if not in-engine prerendered video with interface overlay, which is exactly what TLOU2 gameplay looked like.
They can't keep getting away with it.webm

Those were in engine trailers running realtime on PlayStation hardware, both say that when the trailers start. That stuff never means the game will look like that, always compare gameplay footage not trailers like that. ND hasn't graphically downgraded from gameplay footage so far. Even if they do which is possible because anything can happen with game development you can bet its still gonna be gorgeous.

Watched it 10 times already. Why can't we get more games with writting and acting like that? That quiet scene was so well done, intimate scenes like that are really hard to pull off in a trailer. The music was perfect too. I ve been watching a lot of high quality tv shows lately and i really hope games will step it up, especially the ones that are trying to be more story driven games

Absolutely great showing. Naughty Dog really upped their game when it comes to gameplay. As for the level of violence, most people are already desensitized to it, movies and TV shows have far, far more violence than games can ever hope to match. So people trying to make a controversy out of it should just stop.

This game is intended for adults only, that is completely clear. Unless someone has mental problems and gets easily influenced by "fictional" violence, they will be fine. That's the style of games Sony likes to make and I applaud them for it.

Let's not allow overly sensitive - and very silly - people to take that away from us in Games as they mostly did with nudity, because for some reason the human body is ugly and sex is forbidden to depict in a 18+ game. Really looking forward to TLoU2 and Ellie kicks ass.

This game is absolutely amazing, am I the only one impressed with the way she fought the lady, cut of her arrow bag and had all the arrows scatter to the flow,. I have never seen that before in a video game, it's like when Drake jumped over the Jeep tow cable. Mind blowing levels of details. I so hyped for this game. My game of E3 if you ask me.

It looks great and I'm looking forward to it as I loved the first one. But to say that I'm really impressed, that would be a lie.
And honestly, I love that she's gay!
the whole gay kiss outrage over this cinematic is strange to me. she kissed Riley in the last games DLC. she's clearly gay and has been since the first game. it's like people have selective memories or something. lol
