KOEI has not only reached the sixth game in the Dynasty Warriors series, but the company has also released games based around the series through the years; like the robot-inspired Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. This is the third Dynasty Warriors game to hit Xbox 360, and unfortunately, not much has happened since Dynasty Warriors 5 was released two years ago - at least not to the mainstream eye.
You have the option to choose between three characters when you start the main story mode. You can before each mission choose horse, equipment, upgrade your skills and do a lot of things to prepare for entering the battle field. When entered, it is all pretty straight-forward: kill enemy after enemy, by smashing one button and sometimes add a special attack to that. There is also a co-op feature, letting a friend join you in the battle.
There are tons of information, a big Encyclopedia and a big variation of weapons, skills, upgrades, so there is stuff to keep the fan playing the game until the sequel hit the stores. The effort the developers put to this section is really impressive, and I cannot avoid to wish that more games had this many options available.
Many things in the game screams last-generation, and the graphics are the biggest issue here. The amount of characters moving on screen is impressive, but it is impossible to avoid the fact that most of the characters are clones and that the environments look really dull and undetailed. Fans of the series will continue to buy the games, but to the rest of us, the Dynasty Warriors series will look poor until the developers decide to do what is expected to enter this generation of gaming.
