Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

Because my HDMI swicth/splitter fried during a thunderstorm last week, we are running a bit late with our gameplay videos. I just got a new one so I am now free to capture as much footage as you could possibly dream of. So, here are finally three videos of Red Faction: Armageddon that will show you different extracts from the beginning of the adventure. It's a bit of a shame that Volition decided to drop the open world approach of Guerilla to make Armageddon a kind of Dead Space meets Starship Troopers game but it is still rather fun to play. Not the best in the genre clearly, but entertaining nonetheless, especially thanks to the magnetic gun.

perfect example of a developer who has no focus and no idea what they want their franchise to be.

guerrilla was great, this just ruined a perfectly good thing.

maybe this is some sort of pattern tho? first game good, second game crap, third game good, 4th game crap. 5th game good? we'll see i guess.

Guerilla was crap (played it), Armageddon is better, the gunplay (especially the assault rifle) is damn awesome!

I also like the fact it has a proper structure to the gameplay unlike Guerilla which something was just weird...and they added aliens lol

Guerilla shits on this, it ain't even funny. I played this at my bro's and i was like...wtf is this man? It got boring in a matter of minutes to be honest. They should have never done this.

Gunplay is infinitly better though, I played both and Guerrilla weapons are weak as hell and in here they sound and feel meaty, punchy so to speak.

Ok maybe so, but the levels are just so damn boring. I absolutely loved Guerilla and the open world levels, but this...nah.

So improve the gunplay then; don't ruin a perfectly good formula.

Im not saying otherwise, Im just sayong an important part of a game was improved greatly, that is no longer an openworld well if you loved that part about the first that sucks indeed.

They wanted to create another type of game, and it seems by fans reactions they failed.

Got this game basically for the Saints Row 3 deal. I like it, it's feels like a different game than Guerilla, I like the open world of that better, Amagedden seems like a different game within the main universe (I guess). But I get $10 off the uncoming saints the 3rd so I am cool.

God, I hope this game gets better as it goes. I rented it last week, and was bored after 1 hour. I absolutely loved Guerilla. The open world, tons of vehicles, large scale destruction, better enemies, everything. After trying armageddon, it seems like they gimped everything. Extremely linear levels, few things to destroy, magic rebuilding gun?, boring generic alien enemies, no vehicles?

It even looks like the graphics and destruction got worse from the Guerilla. Now a lot of the things just disappear into the ground when destroyed, rather than becoming physics enabled objects themselves. They just didn't seem like they knew what the hell they wanted to do with the game.

For those that have played through the game, does it ever open open with vehicles and open areas like Guerilla? If not, I think I am sending this one back. I can't even motivate myself to wait through the loading screen to play a generic alien corridor shooter right now...

The whole franchise is a real underachiever, imo and this did nothing to convince me otherwise, the demo felt like Dead Space without any of the tension and ambiance.

I was not a fan of the previous titles but I think they should have built on the last iteration instead of a schizophrenic lurch in a completely different direction.

Ho hum.
