drove 7 laps ont the Nurburgring Nordschleife 2 months ago (irl with a real car that is) and I gotta say this looks the most accuracte compared to Forza 1/2 and PGR 3/4.

driving skills of the guy in the vid are questionable though....

They wanted to release one before the game hits the shelves...

WOW, very very impressive. Nice and smooth, lovely graphics, great looking trees.
I like that you are racing against at least 12 cars or more.
I think Forza 3 only has 8 car races, until I am wrong.
Man, I need to take 6months off work so I can play and complete all these great racing games.
Forza 3, Need for Speed, Dirt 2, and maybe GT5 if we are lucky.
I can't wait.

Looks good. How many cars are on track at the same time, 16 like GT5?

LOL it's funny how all it takes is a couple snazzy vids and all these gamers sunddenly start saying they are gonna buy the game. Us gamers are such a fickle bunch

I agree the vids are impressive and the talk of the game sounds promising, but until I play a demo, I'm not buying any racing game from EA with NFS in the name.
If no demo, I'll wait and see what the reviews say, as I almost always tend to agree with the review average on most racing games.

HA! The driver in the vid was actually pretty decent. I don't think most tradeshow attendees would hardly be able to finish a lap at The Ring.

I just noticed that when he drove across the grass it didn't seem to affect him that much. Hopefully that was just because of the easier settings.

PLEASE tell me they're putting in an option to turn off those stupid crash effects! They're even using the dreaded black and white effect now! Pretty sure if I bump something in my car I'm not going to lose the color in my vision for awhile. Just let me turn all those crappy effects off!

Graphics are impressive indeed. I'm really digging the camera fx, but it doesn't bode well in the 3rd person view...looks weird.

Definitely interested, but will await some reviews before getting too excited...

To be fair that does look bloody good, especially pic 4. The last NFS I touched was Most Wanted, which I enjoyed, but felt broken compared to Hot Pursuit 2 and of course, the original NFS. I'm hoping this will address the tragedy over the years...

Looks very nice indeed, backdrops look great but why is the car so bouncy, it looks like its driving one big baloon lol! Seems like pure arcade to me, but thats not a bad thing as it looks quite fun :)

That's really impressive... terrific sense of speed (unlike the last two NFS games!), gorgeous graphics, workable dashboard view, good framerate with none of the studder of the NFS games of old... it looks like Race Driver GRID 2009 really. Not that I mind, I *loved* GRID.

lol seriously when it rains it pours. I just don't understand why games like NFS and Dirt2 are released around the same time as F3 and GT5. I'm probably just going to pick up GT5 because it's obviously the best but I might pick up F3 to tide me over.

People need to realise that the realism and difficulty settings in this shift will be adjustable to suit your style if play. I have total faith in the guys behind this title. Don't let the need for speed franchise dishearten you, shift will be a great racing title.

I just hope the PC version isn't locked down as the modding community for racing sims as well as flight sims are capable of amazing things.

After watching the trailer again and paying more attention, I have to say the physics look WAAYYYY too unrealistic for me to enjoy. Central pivot and slidding so freely just makes for really bad gameplay on tracks. If it was running from the cops in a crowded city like most wanted, that is ok. But on the ring that kind of crap sucks. The way the driver would pass people by getting off the track was terrible!

I'm now a lot less excited about this game. I just really fucking hope that was easy mode and that easy mode and hard mode are MILES apart from each other.

You would think they would have the physics set to realistic to at least comfort all the doubters who are sick of games like Grid.

@ Nietzche - I was wondering why nobody else mentioned the physics. It looks like the game might be a competitor for Grid but it's not close to being a Sim.

Im suddenly a bit worried. So far the game has impressed me, but this footage looks awful. Its the back wheel turning all over again. Also, why isn't he losing any speed on the grass?

As Nietzsche said, this better be somekind of arcade mode or easy mode.

As good as shift looks, I still can't help but notice the bad framerate of the reflections on the car (I'm guessing its running at half the game's framerate/15fps). Last time I saw something like this was with Forza 1. I think Forza 2 also had reflections running at half, but its at 60fps so its more forgivable/less noticeable.

It has been highly rumored that GT5 is coming out at the end of this year. The rumors come from the same people who leaked the PS3 Slim. Sony can't keep secrets lol. After GT PSP launches, we will have a solid date I believe.
