PS3

The release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is finally in just a few weeks, so Sony released a new batch of images, all looking as good as always. You can always count on Polyphony for the visuals, but I sure would like to know why it always takes them months to localize a racing game.
Update: Looks like the wait is actually justified since Sony announced that compared to the Japanese released our own GT5P will have a lot more cars, one more track, split-screen, tuning, drift mode and more. Nice!

Wow, looks very good, but most of the caps are from the photo modus. I wanna see some real ingame shots!
However, I'm quite shure I'm not gonna get the Prologue... Need the full game.

These are all new cars, so that's probably why we get it later than Japan. Though I'm pretty sure the japanese get the extra content as well.

About the new cars though, it's a rather strange selection I have to say. Kudos to PD for the "tii" concept, didn't expect that one. But there's so many other bimmers that didn't make it for GT5P, they could've started with something that wasn't already in the game. The Tamora is a bit boring. Always thought it looked like a kit car. TVR has a way better selection than that.

Anyway, looking forward to more new cars for the US version. But come on PD, bring on some classic cult cars or something more exclusive than a bunch of mid-priced sports cars for the next update kthxbye.

Finally a good looking dashboard in a racing game.

But much like many others, I will [patiently and in pain] wait for the full game.
We have MGS4 and GTA4 to keep us occupied anyway :)

I haven't even played the game and I can say those are not in game pictures. Sorry but there is just too much AA and AF in those pictures. Hmm does GT5 use 4xAA? Because if it does that's not enough to get rid off all jaggies.

I don't really wait this game. GT2 was awesome game back then but GT4 was major disappointment for me.

Not a fan of driving sims one way or the other, but I don't see what all the fuss is over the visuals here. It's nice, but it doesn't really look any better than PGR4 on the 360.

I own GT5P, the real game doesn't have this much AA or AF, and the shadow mapping artifacts more, but it is still the best looking racing game (at the very least, miles ahead in car detail).

I hope they do update the Japanese version, I guess I should be hopeful because it does seem Sony favors the Japanese market anyways.

[edit : also there's no motion blur when racing at all, and I don't think there's even motion blur during replays, but I'd have to look again.]

I was just messing around in the Japanese version. Replays DO have motion blur, I must have just forgotten. The AF even during gameplay is quite good, textures are sharp at a great distance. The game has different AA levels depending on what resolution you're running. 60fps in gameplay, 30fps and sometimes lower in replays. Also of course the shadow mapping artifacts, which show up both in replays and in gameplay, but are not too bad.

If just gone through all the garage scenes, in-game replay of all the courses and freeze framed countless camera angles and cars, and can look you in the eye and tell you that every pic is in-game. I can't understand why you think this level of graphics is not possible, I was looking at it 5 min ago.

Just not with this much AA or this nice shadow mapping.

when I froze the screen I had no AA problems, didn't look at the shadow, but to say the pics are not in-game is false.

remember this is an updated version of the japanese game that was finished at liepzeg, so it's possible the PD have used full spe on cell to render the effects separate to the GPU.

anyway it's still the best race graphics on any system, and I can't wait.
