Xbox 360

Bungie finally released its first Halo 3"ViDoc" on the 360 Marketplace. The seven minutes long featurette is all about the Brutes, and dares to showcase some new gameplay clips of the campaign mode. For those who are far from their console right now, here is a 640 mirror. Blim's HD version will come later.
Update: 720p version added!

I'm a bit disappointed by the look of the ingame stuff, it looks very sterile and more cheesy, Perfect Dark Zero style.

*ahem*
It’s about Brutes in Halo 3, but before we say more, read the following caveats just so there’s no confusion:

· There are no finished graphics in the documentary, and everything you see is a work in progress.
and
You’ll see what amounts in a way to the first glimpse at Campaign content, but don’t get too excited. Everything you see here is a work in progress, and I’m afraid you won’t be seeing anything like finished graphics. This is just a chance to talk about the design philosophy and production behind what’s going to become a very important part of the next game.
So don't be too disapointed yet.

Now, do I download it now, or wait for the HD version? Decisions....

Thanks. My Xbox 360 showed some red lights yesterday so I wasn't able to download by myself. Pretty crappy timing, my dear Xbox 360 :/

So did I. The Brutes all seemed to suffer from a collective MASSIVE INFERIORITY COMPLEX from being in the shadow of the Elites for so long. So it was hilarious to watch them go nuts when you attacked them.

The Arbiter's fleet was left behind during the Prophet of Regret's attack on Earth and was probably not present during the High Charity fleet jump to Delta Halo. And since the Elites were driven off of High Charity by the Brutes, it would also indicate that Prophets betrayal of the Elites was looooooooong in the making and no spur of the moment decision.

Unless there is some other motive, the Prophets are just a bunch of Jim Jones' who want everybody to drink the kool-aid and die.

It now seems very probable that an alliance between Humans and Elites will take place. I was pretty sure the Grunts would have followed the cue of the Elites but it appears that they are fighting along side the Brutes in the docu-vid. Then again, the Grunts just could be place holders for now.

That would make-

Humans, Elites and Hunters - VS - Brutes, Jackals, Drones and Grunts.

So for my team I'd like to order up a Spartan, an Elite, a pair of Hunters and a side order of UNSC Marines to go please :D

Oh sweet. I see an Ark Storm start up screen behind Chris Butcher!

Dual weilding swords! Ripping off limbs! Smashing into crates! New Marine design!

OMG, They have soo much armour now, they are gonne be bitches to kill. Wow, they were hard to kill in Halo 2, now they're even more deadly? *cries*

Kinda makes me wonder were they are going with the Elites now. Sleeker and more refined? I really want that dual wielding sword Elite on my team. Don't fancy going up against that.

The Grunts are quite whimpish. If you remember they were seen fighting along side both the Elites and Brutes during the end of Halo 2. My guess is that they'll just follow whichever species is nearest to them and most likely to kill them if they don't comply. Though I have a feeling they like the Elites better.

And Scarface, is this the one you wanted?

It only shows for 0.5 seconds in the vid.

Btw, anyone have any idea WTF this is?

Looks like a beam rifle, but its too stocky and fires way to fast. But it also looks like the gun on the small covenant turret that was in Halo 2, but, hes firing it without the stand. Moveable turrets? Me hopes.

Man, still a year away and i'm getting all hyped again.

Since the graphics are placeholder, I assume the shotgun and smg models are, too. That is even if the smg makes a return in Halo 3, because I don't think I remember it from the EGM cover story.

One little thing too, I 'm happy about. On the screen that showed the new HUD, the reticule looks like it's been put back to the exact center again, instead of being a little lowered ala Halo 2. Yay.

I love the new Brute design :)

For you guys that are complaining about the grapichs here is some info. Its a pre-alpha, I have beside the new issue of the swedish version of OXM (Xbox 360 - den officiella tidingen)

I quote

"The graphicengine is a renewd version of the Halo 2-engine and Bungie told us that eaven if we found this impressive there is still tons of effects that haven't been added."

i have high hopes for the physics cuz now they have the new Havok 4.0 engine. Haha, and on Havoks homepage they say that only a PC and PS3 have the power to use it, and then the only games they have listed that uses the new eingine is Halo 3 and Alan Wake, kinda strange ;)

visually unappealing to my eyes, and to be honest a game like halo needs to look a helluva lot better than this given the two dimensional gameplay
