Sony announced that the open beta of Home would finally be available on December 11. And the great news is that contrary to the current semi-closed beta there will be some actual content to check out: Some virtual shops with Diesel and Ligne Roset, a promotional game with Red Bull, and some content with Paramount, Eurogamer and Hexus TV. And also some game spaces, like the one for Motorstorm.

PS3 OWNERS, BUY AND USE YOUR HEADSETS ONLINE. most bluetooth headsets are compatible with the ps3.
If you ask me, they should have got the Ratchet & Clank team to design a futuristic city, and use their pixar-esque character design to use as avatars. Give us some genuinely fun mini games and allow people to use grapples and grind rails and I'd be sold. At least then it'd have a unique feel to the whole project. As it is now... it just looks depressing. We hear so many promises but nobody actually tells us -what- is so great about it. Laggy instant messaging? Oh hooray.

It's nice if we get extra options but this shit is just useless....
This is a casual experience. Why the fuck is sony trying to create a casual experience for system that costs $400?
But to ask what the PS3 has going for it; there are enough answers to that.
I have both Xbox 360 and PS3 and although I've had Xbox 360 far longer and it is still my favorite I won't deny the PS3 has a lot of aspects that are great.
The blue ray drive, the really solid user interface and some of it's exclusive games are pretty damn good.

the arguement between this being amazing and NXE being crap is poinltless as NXE keeps u in the game, where this will just complicate things, its just a way for sony to get some money back through adversising,i hope it is a success for them i really do as they need some praise this gen, remember when microsoft said they was thinking of a enviroment like this, but it isnt needed and takes u away from the fact u on a console, while i side with that too.
also a big problem i have is the fact the models are too lifelike, would have prefered something more funny, like NXE avatars or Mii style models.
i think the indivdual game spaces are going to be an interesting way to check out trailers and content as well. if it was REPLACING regular game based lobby systems, i'd be pissed off since that method is more immediate. i think home is for when your in a party, playing multiple games, but want to break up the action by minigames of bowling, pool etc. its essentially wrapping a social network around gaming. it may end up being more convoluted, but overall i think it'll be a success.....maybe
