Xbox 360 PS3

Bohemia Interactive Studio, the developers of Operation Flashpoint, has released the first in-game image of Arma 2 (Armed Assault 2). The game will be released on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and it was claimed that there's no processing done to the image.

Bohemia press release:
Bohemia Interactive Studio, the developer of the critically acclaimed, highly realistic military simulations ArmA: Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint*, announce the release of the first genuine ArmA 2 in-game screenshot.

“Here, at Bohemia Interactive, we strongly believe in fair attitude towards our customers. Therefore we have a very strict policy when it comes to publishing in-game screenshots. We guarantee and take pride in the fact that the screenshots are not processed in any way that would make them look better than in the actual gameplay. What you see is what you get.” Says Bohemia Interactive Studio’s CEO Marek Spanel.

Why make comments like this? First it was "Oh Great another WWII shooter"... Then it was "Great another Halo clone" and now it's "another modern day military-based shooter".

You people do realize that the only options are past present or future, right?

ArmA isn't a shooter, it's a military simulation, huge difference, this isn't some game you can run and gun around bunny hopping whilst firing full auto from the hip.

You really don't know anything about this game . From you're comment I asume you think this is something like CoD4 , trust me you are greatly mistaken.
Screen look good , now just say how many players there will be on consoles , becouse I was dissapointed with the Operetion 2 announcement that consoles only 8 players.

When are we going to move on from these games. First person shooters are okay, but getting old. Especially the ones that don't have a unique and imaginative storyline (normal war shoot russian/korean/germans).

Looks good but I think I might be getting tired of these :o

lol. An actual simulation that is miles ahead of any game (with the exception of Operation Flashpoint perhaps).

Go play in traffic.

It was buggy but not so much after patches and continued support for game via patches.

Runs well smooth for me on latest patch and i havnt got greatest of rigs Editor is what made this game for me just creating big scale battles and joining in its immense.

Plus addons created by community are superb planes and vehicles scripts etc.

i kinda agree. devs seem to see something which works, and then milk it dry...it happened with WW2, now its modern combats turn.

Okay I only played it when it was quite new game and it was really bad experience so I never tried it again heh. Let's just hope this second game is better without patches.

Still I am interested because I liked the OFP. That game too had great editor.

You're comparing it to the wrong sort of game, ArmA is an open world, go anywhere, do anything, shoot anything, drive anything, complete your objective any way you want kind of game, it's not a linear corridor shooter like COD4 and the like. There have been very few of this type of game since Flashpoint's release in 2001, probably you can count on the fingers of one hand this type of open world, total freedom type military experience.

Look at the sky, its blue with some white clouds.
Now, why is the entire enviroment at ground-level so dark that its almost as if they were fighting in an overcast, thunderstorm, or at night (lol ok slight exaggeration)?

I'm suuuure this game is going to be amazing in every way.. I really am.
But WHEN will developers get out of their rooms and realize that the real world is NOT all brown and gray?! I still havent seen a game that manages to convey the same pure insanely saturated BLUE color of a summers day sky, or the equally insanely intense GREEN of grass and trees being lit up by the warm sun.
Its always portrayed as gray and brown and dark, and dark again. Why?

I agree with the lighting, but the rest, well it seems like thats pretty much the right color pallet for that enviroment, the grass isn't actualy suypposed to be super green. Not all gras is green at all... And yeah, with the overcast lok to things, thats what things look like on an over cast day... Which its actuially kinda close to in the screen ANYWAY... its not blue with SOME clouds, its clouds with SOME blue... It should be a bit brighter, but not hugely more.

You people do realize that the only options are past present or future, right?
Why should video games be restricted to time in the first place? What time period is Super Mario set in? Flow? LittleBigPlanet? Psychonauts?
What I think Inflatable and many others here are really trying to point out though is not what kind of time First Person games are set in these days but a concern towards the whole shooting aspect of it all. Just because a game is played out from the eyes of a character, must I be shooting and killing things?
Almost every single game set in first person that has been made so far is just trying to simulate war. Man vs. whatever. The whole concept of human beings shooting things in First Person is getting really, really tiresome. What shapes or colors I'm aiming at in todays FPS doesn't matter to me anymore since it's all the same. "We're good, they're bad, now shut up and shoot! Soldier!"
More developers need to move away from all these military training simulations. Realistic, arcadic, linear, open-ended... I'm still shooting things, with guns.
Just look at Valve and DICE. I think what they're doing by going from Half-Life to Portal, and from Battlefield to Mirror's Edge is, albeit small, a very significant step towards better First Person Gaming in general.

i think the first ArmA had volumetric clouds (i could be thinking of another game) so if its this dark its probably because a cloud is blocking the way of the sun. if u look at the clouds u will see there is a lot of them grouped together so there wont be full sunlight if they are positioned in front of the sun.
