Bohemia Interactive Studio, the developers of Operation Flashpoint, has released the first in-game image of Arma 2 (Armed Assault 2). The game will be released on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and it was claimed that there's no processing done to the image.
Bohemia press release:
Bohemia Interactive Studio, the developer of the critically acclaimed, highly realistic military simulations ArmA: Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint*, announce the release of the first genuine ArmA 2 in-game screenshot.
“Here, at Bohemia Interactive, we strongly believe in fair attitude towards our customers. Therefore we have a very strict policy when it comes to publishing in-game screenshots. You people do realize that the only options are past present or future, right?

Go play in traffic.
Runs well smooth for me on latest patch and i havnt got greatest of rigs Editor is what made this game for me just creating big scale battles and joining in its immense.
Plus addons created by community are superb planes and vehicles scripts etc.
Still I am interested because I liked the OFP. That game too had great editor.

Now, why is the entire enviroment at ground-level so dark that its almost as if they were fighting in an overcast, thunderstorm, or at night (lol ok slight exaggeration)?
I'm suuuure this game is going to be amazing in every way.. I really am.
But WHEN will developers get out of their rooms and realize that the real world is NOT all brown and gray?! I still havent seen a game that manages to convey the same pure insanely saturated BLUE color of a summers day sky, or the equally insanely intense GREEN of grass and trees being lit up by the warm sun.
Its always portrayed as gray and brown and dark, and dark again. Why?

What I think Inflatable and many others here are really trying to point out though is not what kind of time First Person games are set in these days but a concern towards the whole shooting aspect of it all. Just because a game is played out from the eyes of a character, must I be shooting and killing things?
Almost every single game set in first person that has been made so far is just trying to simulate war. Man vs. whatever. The whole concept of human beings shooting things in First Person is getting really, really tiresome. What shapes or colors I'm aiming at in todays FPS doesn't matter to me anymore since it's all the same. "We're good, they're bad, now shut up and shoot! Soldier!"
More developers need to move away from all these military training simulations. Realistic, arcadic, linear, open-ended... I'm still shooting things, with guns.
Just look at Valve and DICE. I think what they're doing by going from Half-Life to Portal, and from Battlefield to Mirror's Edge is, albeit small, a very significant step towards better First Person Gaming in general.

Bohemia may not produce the perfect game at release, but with their ongoing support and insane community they soon evolve into unmatched experiences.
