Xbox 360

Rockstar and 2K Games announced name and release date for the DLC pack earlier today, and here are the first images of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned.

2K Games press release:
Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that the eagerly anticipated first episode of downloadable content, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, will be coming to the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system via Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network. Available exclusively on Xbox LIVE worldwide on February 17, 2009, The Lost and Damned will feature all new content and is the first of two episodes announced for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360.

"Making these episodes has enabled us to expand the narrative and the experience of interacting with a game world in really innovative ways," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We hope fans of the game enjoy the new way of experiencing life in Liberty City contained in this first episode."

Since its launch in April, Grand Theft Auto IV has garnered unprecedented praise and acclaim worldwide. Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music - all with the incredible production values that are the trademarks of Grand Theft Auto.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned requires players to have the full version of Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download. Further details, including pricing, will be announced soon. For more information, please visit www.rockstargames.com/IV.

Have I forgotten how GTAIV looked or is this looking worse tha GTAIV? That first screenshot looks like a PS2-version.
Yeah they look bad but remember most of the screenshot released prior to GTAIV were kind of crappy as well...

"New weapons and vehicles" Cool. I can't wait to see what they have.

Should be a lot of fun but it'll all depend on how good the missions are and what the price is before I decide if I'll buy it.

I really enjoyed GTA IV but thought some of the missions were a little stale. Although I absolutely loved the excellent physics and driving engine. Driving in GTA IV felt better than in most racing games these days, which is sad.

Not that i'd see why you'd want more of this crap, but good for those who likes it i guess. And yes, GTA4 does look like that.

This is going to have to be something pretty spectacular to make me put down Saints Row 2 for this. New vehicles and weapons sounds pretty nice though..

Not all that impressed.
Most likley the vehicles and weapons will be varients of those already included in the game.
Ideally I would have liked to see new areas to explore but there we go.

Hmm, I was hoping another city. I be disappointed if they don't add any other location(s). It shouldn't take so frikking long to add few few scripted events with *go here, get mission, go there and kill someone, drive back* missions since all animations etc are already there. Unless Rock Star has 2 people working on this :P

Basically, this is just a simple taster or the tip of the iceberg of what is going into this DLC. Remember, Rockstar are solely focusing on one console for this, and it's taking them well over a year to come up with new shit, so if this turns out to be anything other than a complete leveler of what GTA 4 SHOULD have been, then I'll be extremely surprised. Not enough was made of the Euphoria tech in GTA 4. You couldn't randomly grab onto anything you wanted, like trucks, helicopters, car hoods and trunks etc etc, and hang on for the ride, which I though you'd be able to do. Imagine having the FEDS up your ass with no car in sight apart from the one coming down the road, so you run and jump onto the roof and hang on for dear life to get away, or even taking a leap from a building onto that pesky police chopper and watch it fly about trying to shake you off. I also would have loved to have been able to grab peds and throw them about the place, like in front of police cars, trains, or off tall buildings. Sadistic, aye, but hours of fun to be had there. It's little things like that which would have made GTA 4 less stale and far more fun and entertaining at least. I expect R* to pack this out with such detail for fun and keep the same city, albeit with some new parts. That would do me.

the impression i get is rockstar staff have worked so hard on gta4 they feel they deserve a break so they are just taking there time with this episode. little bit of work here little bit of work there. cant say i blame them

looks like all the work theyve done so far is copy and paste a biker lots of times and put them on the bridge.

EDIT. btw dingleberry. i dont know which gta4 you were playing but i could definatly hang off trucks. i was amazed when it happend. i managed to get onto the roof of a truck but i didnt realise it was being driven, and when the lights changed the truck set off and the force sent niko off and he grabs onto the side of it to stop himself falling, legs flinging in the air. i was quite impressed.

Yeah, but that's just random. Ask anyone who has tried this, and most will tell you that it's not possible to do in a simple, intuitive manner as it should. You should be able to do it whenever, and wherever you like and have it as an actual function on your controller instead of something that just happens as by chance.

there is one thing this add on content NEEDS for me to buy it. and thats a story of comparably quality and depth as the main game. i dont expect it to be as long, but i at least want to end up with a fleshed out, well developed character like niko and the characters around him. otherwise it's just gonna just feel like additional missions with nothing to connect them (something that dissapointed me about the "still alive" content for portal) who wants missions if there is no narrative to keep everything flowing and interesting.

After I installed Forza2 and GoW2 on the harddrive of my Xbox 360 I have 306MB left.. Will this fit? :P

I really need to get a bigger harddrive, 20GB (13GB effectivly) doesn't cut it anymore now you can install games.. :\

I am absolutely not kidding when I say these look like shots from the PS3 version. Softer and warmer colors, 360 is sharper and has a higher contrast. Very weird.

Either way I am done with this game, played it non-stop at first and I really don't crave more, don't have a 360 anyways.

Curious how many will get it, there is a lot of game there already, most haven't even gotten to 70% I'd bet.
