Images Xbox 360

Shadow Complex has been quite quiet since E3, so it's with great pleasure that we welcome a few new images of this so nineties action game by the creators of Gears of War. Like Metroid and Castlevania at their time, Shadow Complex will be divided between exploration and shootings on a 2D plane. The game is planned to be released exclusively on Xbox 360's XBLA by the end of summer.
Update: Gameplay video added.

Pic 2: Unreal Engine 3 shadows... yeahh! Seriously, its a joke they havent fixedf that yet, even if there are better examples...

Anyway, this game seems to be a nice one... looking forward to try it out.

And thisgame won't be out by the END of the year. It will be out in august from what I've heard.

By the way, was it only me that instantly thought "nathan Drake" at pic 2? I guess mr Drake is the most bland and unnoticeable character ever but still.

More and more must buy XBLA stuff. This and 'Splosion Man will keep me busy until Bayonetta/Uncharted/GTAIV new DLC comes out.

I don't get the graphics hate. Looks good.
Are people expect improved UE3 for downloadable $15 game?

Eww.

This game looks pretty good. I like how downloadable games have really started to catch on in the past year or so, at least in terms of quality.

Yeah i feel a little bad about it, but just a little.

As for downloadable games, i think we're starting to see where the business i headed. Sooner or later downloadable games will be the standard, unless we see an abrupt halt in Moores law or something :)

Fine by me really. This is giong to cost about £10 but be around 10 hours long - I think I'm right in saying that? If so, that's more value than I get from some £40 games to be honest. Even with Battlefield 1943 I feel like I've got much more value for my money than any standard retail games I've bought recently.

Keep the quality coming is all I can say.

Well ofc downloadable games should be cheaper, even if they offer the same content as games on optical media. Bandwidth is basically ubiquitous by now, you can publish your games yourself if they are downlanded and there's no need for production and so forth. Basically the only costs will be making the game and marketing. Perhaps some sort of licensing fee as well for the consoles or if you want to get on steam and such.

Yeah all publishers will soon be pushing for this as way of battling the sales trade-in's and rentals "steal". The only trouble is it also gives them a licence to charge what they wish and lower standards on quality control - battlefields actually been a good example of things to come where you basically "beta test" a game for the first few weeks whilst they get it right. Can you imagine getting Bad company 2 out of the box and having the same teething problems?

Price...well in theory games should come to us cheaper as they save money on publishing, processing, shiping ect... but we've all seen how DLC is being manipulated.. having games as digital download gives them a licence to exploite future dlc all the more. Plus games on adverage now weigh in around 7gigs..thats only gonna increase. Thats alot of harddrive space, so the few quid that you're saving on not "paying for a box" you'll soon be losing more to alternative harddrives.

Oh and then theres the fee's that MS and Sony charge publishers for sticking their games on there.

Its the future..but its not a pretty one

Looks a damn sight better then most games. I don't really see you issue with it. Especially when this is on an arcade release.

I'm pretty excited for this game, i just hope they do a decent job at spreading difficulties. I want an easy mode, being as I'm just not that great at games like this.

Bleached: You are totally ignoring technical advances though. Storage space will only get cheaper, internet access will only get faster and i think the market will respond if the whoring of DLC gets too severe. At least i hope so. As a customer i also feel it is a drawback not being able to trade and lend games but i think that's something we'll just have to deal with.

thats cos it's an arcade game.

looks cool tho, not something i'm excited about, but it's nice to see the 360 is getting games that go beyond the usual 'arcade' quality. MS shouldnt have put a limit on the araced from the get-go imo. all it did was...well, limit developers.

This is bought. I like how XBLA games have risen in quality. I wasn't interested in the arcade market at all until recently. Hope it pays off and we can see more high quality games coming to XBLA/PSN.

wowsers unreal engine 2d rocks, i wonder if they got the inspiration from the UT3 mods that came out a while back, ue3 mods looked gawky in 3d but in 2d looked and played rather well.
