Xbox 360 PS3

Capcom releases five new screenshots of Street Fighter IV, finally in 720p. Visually, there's a very strong and unique approach that will undoubtly divide opinions. I, for one, think it looks awesome.

ha, facial expressions are going to be funny. only 720p though? Street Fighter 2 HD is going to be 1080p, I think. Thats funny to.

I'm curious on how the finished product will be. But who isn't. Hey spaceman, it's been a while since the first SF, there are surely new teams working on it, there you have your cause.

Yeah, this looks really crappy. It's not impressive technically and i must say it's half way to appalling from an esthetical point of view. Also, just look at Ryu's shoulder in the first and second pic, looks really bad.

I think this game's visuals are a waste of talent. I watched the interview and everything was pulling me in the direction of buying this game until the director claimed that the game will strictly play on a 2D plane and that the camera won't budge at all. I for one think it would be pretty stupid to release the game that way. At first glance the game play looked exactly the same as it did for the 2D sprite Street Fighter games, which is its flaw. But the game's visuals are astounding when you consider what the artist has done with polygons that easily rival any of the 2D games of the past. I've never seen anything like it. The first Virtua Fighter was 2D/3D; hopefully this will at least grant us that much of a 3D fighter. Right now I don't see the point in releasing the Street Fighter HD game that will hit Xbox Live soon.

I can only hope they cancel this project and hire a new dev team (kinda like what Konami did with SH Origins, after everyone said it looked shitty).

Capcom will release it in this form, you will buy it and complain all the way to the store doing so. But you will buy it none the less.

It looks awesome. Graphically not impressive? Just look at the 4th pic. Ryu looks nearly handdrawn.

You must be smoking some real shit. If it doesn't play in a 2D plane, it's not Street Fighter at all. At all. It would play like shit and no one would want it. Street Fighter is a 2D fighting series. These guys from the interviews say they've reached the height of 2D animation in Third Strike, which I don't agree with and think they went with this 2.5D look since it's much easier to produce and will be liked more by newbies and casual guys.
I think the graphics look pretty good, but the facial modeling can use more use.

I just think pic 4 looks like a caricature of George Clooney :P Hardly has a drawn look to it. Seriously, the style just doesn't look good to me. All bulgy, round and stubby looking characters with weird looking faces. It works in 2d but in 3d it just looks crummy. But i guess it's a matter of taste really.

Also i agree that it sucks to make the gameplay 2d again. What the SF series needs is a fresh new game, not SF2 with hotter graphics...again. Nope, i won't be picking this one up, i'll just have to stick with VF5 untill another Guilty Gear comes along.

Looks great, goes to show you don't have to have 'realistic' looking graphics to have great looking graphics.

not gonna say anything until I see some in-game action.. its basically all about how it plays, must admit though that the art is neat.. good to see that they dare to try new things out..

Personally I don't like what they've done with the art style. The original was a very manga-esque style but this looks too much like american comic book style and its taken away some of the magic.
Fair play to them for keeping the game in 2D as it wouldn't be street fighter otherwise. Still, they need to seriously go back and re-do the art style, which I doubt is going to happen so its a real shame.

I don't like how they look too bulky, and their faces should be more cartoony.

How is a hurricane kick going to work in a fully 3D fighting game? Obviously if it was a "fresh new game" it wouldn't be SF anymore. GG and SF are purely 2D fighting games with game mechanics that only work in a 2D environment.

Anyway, from the videos up on IGN this game looks pretty much like the SF EX games with prettier graphics. 10% complete is what they're saying though so I hope
