PS3

Sega unveils its TGS line-up and releases some pretty images of Ryu ga Gotoku 3, most known as the third "Yakuza" under this side of the globe. We hope the game will be released in the West, even if the first Yakuzi did bomb everywhere but in Japan.
Update: 4 images added.
Update2: And here comes the first trailer, in low resolution only.

yay for shenmue 3! ;p

edit: the faces look wonderfully modelled, bet the animation of them sucks as usual sadly, very very few games get that remotely close to being right, and the ones that do are mediocre/average titles (not naming any names, you know who you are!)

Wow, this just looks so f***ing great! The main character (well, i'd say it is the mai character) looks a lot like the main charakter of the prequels. And that's cool. Perhaps there is a link?
And wow, that sweety on screen 6 of 2nd gallery.... ^^
Well, when the athmosphere is so good like the previous titles, and the gameplay a bit better, then I already know, THIS IS A SUPER DUPER TOP TITLE!!!!!!!

Well this game is not my type, but I like the detail in the character skin area, especially the up close ones.

Kind of funny how this seems to be taking place in feudal japan but the main character still looks just like Kazuma :P

At any rate, there was a Ryu ga Gotoku 2? A game after Yakuza? I guess then that it never got released here? Sucks.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that it never got released here, which of course is a damned shame. Oh well, we can enjoy the first and the third, as I believe this was announced as a Spring 08 title. Here's a reason to buy a PS3 for SURE!

Looks nice. Doubt it will do well outside of Japan though.
Sega seems to be doing pretty well as far as decent games are going. Now we just need Shenmue 3 for 360!

I think the similarities between this guy and Kiryu are quite deliberate. Even the colour scheme is the same.

Makes more sense with the japanese title really, which was always roughly "Like a Dragon". I thought Yakuza was a good, concise name for the game in the west, but it's sure to make more people go "huh!?" in regards to this one being a sequel. Then again, no more "huh!?"-y than Apollo Justice being "Phoenix Wright" 4.

Aaaanyyyyhooooo, the fighting engine (extension of Spikeout's but with added RPG elements) was *Fantastic* in Yakuza, especially halfway into the game and onwards, so this should be equally great. Guns and stuff never played a particularly big role in Yakuza either, so the transistion should be virtually seamless.

I'll just miss Kiryu. :(

Of course the likeness is deliberate, that's pretty obvious...but still. From the trailer i think he's still named Kiryu (I'm pretty sure i heard it in there somewhere at least), so this could be some sort of family saga or something?

I really liked Yakuza too, the only downside being beating up punks in the street all the time. And well, i would honestly consider getting a PS3 again if this comes out in europe.

The lead's name isn't Kiryu anymore. It's Miyamoto Musashi. The legendary swordsman. The story is loosely based on several historic events. Read the Japanese manga called "Vagabond" for some insight.

At 00:22 in the trailer I'm pretty sure they address him Kiryu? I might be wrong, im most certainly no authority on Japanese.

Damn that looks pretty awesome, graphically it looks quite nice.

But dear god Sega give us Shenmue 3, especially if it could look as good as this.

I listened at 00:22 and get exactly what you're saying. So I watched the whole trailer carefully with whatever little Japanese I can understand.

At the end of the trailer, the young girl is asking the lead character to kill Miyamoto Musashi. So it could be that in the beginning of the game, the lead lives under the alias Kiryu(a homage to the 1st game from developers) and later the story unravels the fact that he himself is Miyamoto Mushashi. An interesting twist in a videogame, IMO. Much like a cool novel or something.

Impressive eh :)

I think the move to feudal Japan is Sega's attempt to reissue the franchise and a release outside of Japan is likely.
